Gonzo the Face
Someone just informed me that the Prince Hotel is on Fire. Any one close to there that can confirm or deny this? Sure hope not, to me the place is a landmark and many fond memories.
Ulysses G.
Love their swimming pool. There is a fairly big fire going on in that direction, but I am too far away to be exactly sure.
cmsally
Not the hotel but close to the hotel in about 4 shophouses, started at a place called Saha Alai - repairs motorbikes or sells spare parts, not sure if in front of hotel or past the Eso station towrds the river. Sojourner
The fire was in a building directly across from the hotel, near Poolside. I watched the whole episode, especially when it looked like the fire department was about to get it under control and they ran out of water. That's when it really took off and flames started coming up through the roof. It took another fifteen minutes before more tanker trucks were on the scene and water was pouring on the fire again. If there were hydrants nearby, they must have been dry.
chanchao
Strange to run out of water for a structure right next to the Mae Kha Canal.. Then again... seeing what the canal looks like, good chance of it containing something that would actually make the fire worse. And then there's the issue of what's worse: a good fire or having your place soaked in Mae Kha klong water.... hmm.. Let's hope they get/have it under control now. Farma
A FIRE BROKE OUT IN CHIANG MAI THIS MORNING A fire broke out this morning in a block of old commercial buildings in Chiang Mai Province, resulting in about five million baht of damages. The fire erupted in an old commercial area of Chiang Mai city this morning. The fire swelled from a machine parts shop that sold lubricating oil to nearby buildings. Four fire trucks were used to put out the flames, a process that consumed one whole hour. By the time the fire was put out, four units of commercial buildings were damaged. Mrs. WANDEE KANLAYANAPHISUT (วันดี กัลยาณพิสุทธ์), the owner of the machine parts store, said she had been sleeping on the 3rd floor when the fire broke out. Fortunately, she was able to escape after she was awakened by her grandchild. From the incident, one person suffered burns on the arms.
