Some things are hard for you to understand Dev i know this tongue.png

Your views on Woy are biased because of your supporters grievences with him.

And your views also discredit him like the press comment! who actually gives a flying fuc_k what the press thinks anymore on England, maybe this appointment(short-term)will steady the ship and he can play some youngsters instead of the press's and yours belief that we are in a position to win a Tournament. We are not.

The most qualified manager is Scottish and it isnt Dalglish wink.png

Now let's see how this turns out smile.png

"Bastion of Invincibility" Liverpool Football Club.

Here we go another monkey with a chip on his shoulder.Ohhhhh i forgot you won 3 nowt and everything is rosy again is it?

Exactly why i posted in return to Stevies comment, you lot are a sad bunch of losers indeed.

Can i be the peace maker herew00t.gif Seriously, is the sad reality that ball bag features and Woy is all that we have to offer?

I don't care as long as its someone that knows the England way, that understands our history and knows what it is to be English. rolleyes.gif

Now, i'm not belittling anyone here, simply joking at how ridiculous this situation has truely become. Its patently obvious this lot are not up to it.

Therefore find a foreign mug thats happy to take the poison chalice and a big pay day because we don't possess an English national who is up to it.

Am thinking over our recent strategy of filling our squad and reserves with homegrown players. Dont really want hodgson's paws all over them at any stage

also its a lose lose. he does badly and our English players suffer and we wont be popular for gloating about it. He does well and we will not be able to live it down. Though him doing well is extremely unlikely

just not something I want to see. Unlike some of our fans I do think a semi successful national team will ultimately benefit everyone, including ourselves, and being English I want to see the team doing well anyway. Seeing Hodgson reappear like an extra in Night Of The Living Dead just doubles my present sense of disillusionment

No, its nothing like that...

Overall, I think the England team is a lost cause whoever is in charge. Its a poison chalice.

Hodgson is perfect. He is actually very good at reducing expectations. Look bingo. I believe he is doing it already. By the time Hodgson has finished managing England, people will be saying that England are good enough they deserve a manager as good as Hodgson. We are half way there already. We used to have Capello. We cant afford Redknapp. We will take Hodgson. And expectations for the England team do need lowering.

Now if Hodgson takes the team to the Euros and wins it. Well I will happily admit I was wrong. Gee, Pardew got his job at Newcastle through his Casino membership and that led to him being manager of the year. So stranger things have happened.

Nothing against Roy and he seems a nice enough fella. But this has just frightened the living daylights out of me. I don't give two hoots if the preference is to have an Englishman, if this is all that is available, get a johnny foreigner back in at the helm.

As opposed to filling the squad with foriegners? thumbsup.gifw00t.gif

These rule changes have been behind our strategy in recent times. We applied it badly but even Rafa said there had to be a drive for more british/english players to come through the ranks

but the national team's boss being Roy hodgson makes me fear for their development if and when they get called up. They wont be taught to play the right way, they will have more mid table mediocrity indoctrinated in to them from the top

bad, bad idea. I fervently hope this doesnt happen. I also want our fans to concentrate more on how we can improve rather than getting in to full on gloat mode over Roy, it just encourages more navel gazing at the end of the day

Even Rafa said that did he??? Now then there is a god cheesy.gif ,still don't understand where you are coming from or going to mate.

The amount of time any England manager gets with the players he chooses is very small and does not impact on there career or style of play as would there clubs coaching policies.your argument that Roy Hodgson as England manager or anybody else for that matter would inhibit or destroy a players development is futile and actually incorrect.

Just all this talk of Roy being also heavily involved in the coaching set up at all levels I find very disturbing. his tactics belong in the pre Walter Winterbottom era. Junior teams could be instructed to give up the whole idea of ball retentionwhich is vital really in the modern game, and big strong and limited players will proliferate. Young players want to play for their national teams and would be expected to conform in the way they play for their clubs. Look at the way Hodgson froze out players with ability at Liverpool, because Agger wouldnt hump it long he was frozen out and Johnson was exiled for daring to cross the half way line. he also tried to turn Torres in to a piss poor impersonator of Zamora with no success

as for Euro 2012, on the 20th anniversary of euro 1992 am getting a strong sense of Deja vu about it

hes a mid table coach who espouses very limited, long ball football. Flair is anathema to the man, he could run the game in this country if allowed to do too much damage

The FA are a bunch of idiots who need to be removed from their posts

A few Liverpool supporters here are forgetting that West Brom under the management of Roy, beat you at home, albeit by a lot of luck, but hey a result is a result. And if Roy does get the job and can replicate wins like that then okay. Oh and they did not play the long ball game against you, they played the waiting game, and they waited and pounced on an error.

They just sat back, packed the defence and humped the ball up to odemwingie. Worked on the day, we arent a strong side at the moment and tend to struggle against teams who play that way but better teams in international football will have no trouble with it

look at his formations and tactics. Rigid, rigid, rigid

its designed to facilitate alehouse footballers and limited players who play using their physiques

Taylor had the same idea, playing people like Sinton, Palmer, Keith Curle etc. Grim as hell. Jack Charlton had the same idea with ROI but for them simply qualifying was seen as a success and he proved to be a dinosaur by the end. It worked for the novelty value for a while but in the end was found out

Hand on heart I cannot really think of any English men suitable for the job or would take the job.

Alan Pardew - loved by the Geordies and has something going up there

Chris Hughton - Birmingham in with a shout of getting into the EPL

Big Sam - again West Ham have the chance

Glen Hoddle - disrespected handicapped, and is a no-goer for that reason

Ian Holloway - Blackpool in the play offs as well

Brian McDermott - Reading just in the Premier league onto a good thing, will stay

Nigel Adkins - the Saints in the premier league will want to prove something

I think you're completely right, nether can I, but I don't think Moyes is the answer either.

Redknapp is the only Englishman who stands a chance of doing anything, and even that isn't a dead cert. While I can understand the case for an English manager, there simply isn't any good/proven ones out there. If it can't be Redknapp my choice would be to give it to Pearce, at least in a temporary capacity, give the guy a chance to prove himself. If he fails, then look abroad again.
