This probably comes at no surprise, being this is Thailand, but I am really confused here. Let's see, we have Russians, Mexicans, Thai's, Malaysians, what no white falangs? This can't be right.

You forget the Turk

So your saying Russians and Mexicans are Asian or black? Got to be one of those two if not white.

Mexicans are Hispanics and I always thought Russia was East Asia.. maybe I'm wrong.. Eurasians perhaps?

Here we go again. There are three races in this world: Asian, White, and Black. "Hispanic," "East Asia," and "Eurasia" are not races. Hispanic (Spanish-speaking) people includes several ethnic groups and include those of both White and Black races. East Asian, Eurasian, American, Australian, Canadian, Singaporean, etc., etc. are not races and not ethnic groups - these are coyuntries or geographical regions.

Well i guess you didn't listen really well to the stories Adolf had to tell. There is only one real race; the ubermensch... and then you got hundreds of different races and not just black, white and yellow... what about indians, native americans, aboriginals, eskimo's ....

My questions are 1) where is the Thai man they originally said they detained

That would be the innocent "illegal taxi driver from Patong" who did not stop at police checkpoints under duress from the gang.

The driver of the vehicle the gang were fleeing in, an illegal taxi driver in Patong, has not named by police and has yet to be charged with any offenses.

See this annoys me. Do thai's not ask what the hell is going on? Theywrote this article as if it links perfectly with yesterdays........ This is an entirely new news story, nothing is the same as yesterday.

Its like Orwells 1984.

Police are still questioning him, but at this stage believe he is innocent in terms of the robbery.

He failed to stop at the police checkpoint while under duress from the thieves, it was explained.

So, they hired an illegal taxi driver to leave his taxi and drive a car they rented.

Well as the reports continue the facts just get more obscured by all the conflicting information!

It seems this was a veritable international ring of criminals - we have Mexicans, Turks, Russians, Canadians, Malaysians and Thais, although of course the Thai was just an innocent illegal taxi driver pressured into it!

Seems amazing that such a wide diversity of nationalities were involved, considering this crime would appear to be an opportunistic snatch and grab... maybe not... maybe there is much more to this than meets the eye. To have such a diverse gang involved I'd suggest that this would have to have been planned, so how did they know this guy was even carrying the jewels, where he'd be stopping for breakfast and conveniently leaving the car unattended?

Now it appears that the police have let not one but two suspects slip through their fingers, a large Malaysian women escaping the police station using the classic toilet disappearing trick I previously thought was reserved purely for Hollywood movies, and a Mexican lady who seems to be have been able to evade a police checkpoint on foot... this is becoming pure comedy!

The picture at the start of the thread shows some really ugly jewelry resting on... what are they? Scrunched up pink toilet paper or bags of Amphetamines?

One Mexican woman, named by police as 57-year-old Mejia Zuluaga Maria Asseneth, managed to flee the scene, he said.

If this is the now famous 'large' woman, how come she is now a Mexican? Before she was reported to be a Malaysian. blink.png

I think it is because we all look the same to them so maybe they are confused? It will be interesting to see what the final nationalities are. That is a little bit more complex because of the diverse nature of the criminal gang. They come from very different countries that have nothing in common did they have too organize this in English,Spanish or Turkish and did these people meet at Maylay Bobs Taco and Shawarma cart or something?

It sounds the same to people uneducated in geography, try asking your average Thai to point to Mexico on a world map. Not their fault I would be the first to admit crap education

Mexicans/Hispanics are racially white, "Hispanic" is an ethnicity. Russians are white.
