The ban affects, among other businesses, all bars, restaurants, nightclubs and mom-and-pop-stores. The news follows Phuket Vice Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada and PEC Director Kittipong Thiengkunakrit leading an election-awareness parade joined by about 1,000 students on Tuesday. "We want to encourage people in the election areas to know and uphold their democratic rights and obligations," said Tawatchai Thongmung, Chief Administrative Officer (Palad) at Phuket City Municipality. The parade on Tuesday coursed through the main streets of Phuket Town. "This was to make residents aware of their right to vote and to encourage them to show up at polling booths on Saturday," Mr Tawatchai said. MikeThaison
OK I'll respond. . NO BOOZE?!?!?! haha. . . I bet all the farang bar owners that get busted again are gonna complain again about the way police handled them breaking the law! Ignorance of the law is not an excuse or defense. One amazing thing I like to see is the youth involvement in this process. Not passing any judgement on what they do with the electoral process or their motivations for being involved, yada yada, but nice to see the youth out and giving 2 ****s. Sure beats the US, where the youth are more likely to take part in American Idol voting than voting for their countries leader.
