Am i missing something, here?

All i see are 2 females and 2 males

There's a bit of pushing and shoving in an attempt by one of the males to steal a handbag from one of the females

Then all four of them either walk away unscathed, in the case of the females or ride away unscathed in the case of the males

Have the police released footage of a different incident?wacko.png

Yes, I believe that is the case. I don't believe a woman stabbed in the chest would be walking away like that.

You can see the man slashing at the women. Later reports stated that both women had not realised they had been stabbed. I must admit that the women walk off like nothing had happened, but no doubt their adrenalin would be at a high level and I expectj both were in shock from the attempted bag snatch.

If you look closely, especially at the television version of the footage, both the women look at the stabbed womens chest near the end of the video, and a red patch starts to appear on her clothes (more visible on television footage). The woman then collapsed seconds after the footage ends.

Warrant issued for Phuket killer

The Nation

PHUKET: -- An arrest warrant was approved yesterday for a man suspected of stabbing to death an Australian woman and wounding her friend last Wednesday in Phuket, and a Bt300,000 reward offered for information leading to his arrest.

The Phuket Court issued the warrant for the suspect pictured in a sketch based on eyewitness accounts and images taken from securitycamera footage. The sketch shows a Thai man 2530 years of age standing 175182 centimetres in height. The suspect is wanted for attempted armed robbery leading to death and injury, and carrying a weapon while travelling without good reason.

Police offered no information about whether there was a sketch of the suspect's accomplice or any other details about the second man, who was seen waiting and whisking the killer away on a motorcycle.

Provincial police chief Pol MajGeneral Chonnasit Watthanawarangkool said it was the responsibility of all police precincts in Phuket, not only Thalang police, whose jurisdiction covers the crime scene, to try to capture the suspect. He called on Phuket residents to cooperate in keeping an eye out for the wanted man and all tipoffs were welcome at his phone number 0818419559.

The officer said police were following a lead that turned up yesterday shortly after the sketch was first made public when a man resembling the figure in the sketch was seen eating at a restaurant in Tambon Karon in Muang district.

You have not been following the story. Even initial reports stated that the women did not realize they had been stabbed until shortly after the incident.

Phuket Police release sketch of Michelle Smith murder suspect

Phuket Gazette

PHUKET: -- As the manhunt continues in Phuket for the killers of Australian tourist Michelle Smith, police have released a composite sketch of the prime suspect in the hope that some member of the public can identify him.

Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Chonasit Wattanavrangkul said that both men involved in the attack were probably both in their late 20s and relatively tall for Thais, about 175cm to 180cm tall.

This information differs slightly from original estimates, which said the killers were in their early 20s and slightly shorter.

The composite sketch is of the man caught on CCTV stabbing the late Mrs Smith last Tuesday night. Details collected about his accomplice were as yet insufficient to apply for a second warrant, Maj Gen Chonasit said.

Included with the sketch was an image of the purple Honda Dream motorbike they used to carry out the attack, just 100 meters from the Katathani resort, where Mrs Smith was staying with a group of other travel agents on a "familiarization tour" of the island.

Initial reports specified the color of the motorbike as blue. Police said earlier that there were about 30 motorbikes matching the general description in the Land Transport Department database.

Phuket Provincial Court has issued an arrest warrant for the anonymous suspect on multiple charges including premeditated murder, attempted armed robbery and weapons charges.

Although Phuket Police sometimes restrict access to the media of composite sketches, the opposite is true in this case. Maj Gen Chonasit has ordered patrol and traffic police units and civil defence volunteers to distribute the images as widely as possible in communities across the island in the hope the public will help identify him.

Anyone who can will be eligible to collect a 300,000-baht reward offered jointly by police and the Katathani resort.

Phuket Police have also arranged for local cable television operators to broadcast the image every 30 minutes.

It was not mentioned if KPP Cable TV, whose owner Atsadakorn “Pod” Seedokbuab has been charged with attempted murder in the contract killing of Phuket newsman Wisut “Ae Inside” Tangwitthayaporn, was among the cable companies taking part.

Maj Gen Chonasit urged anyone with information about either man to call him directly at 081-8419559 or call the police emergency hotline number: 191.

Ok, now I am lost....how can a warrant be issued for a person who's name they don't know?

The issue of a warrant indicates that the Thai police now agree that it was not a suicide, motorbike accident or drug overdose by a farang. It's a big step forward in the investigation. :)

Spot on Sherlock.

With 300 K up for grabs is there any possibility that a couple of poor Burmese constuction workers may be fitted up.

Also to be considered is the fact that, like the poor girls fingernails, on PP, the colour of the bike has morphed from blue to purple to what I see above in the picture, unless it's my monitor, to black. Next we might be asked to believe it was a Harley and the Hells Angels are responsible.

Yes, I believe that is the case. I don't believe a woman stabbed in the chest would be walking away like that.

They didn't realise that they had been stabbed intially, the victim then collapsed after walking away, outside the range of this footage.

exactly, adrenalin is a powerful thing. I have personally seen a guy shot in the chest who keeps comming at you before the body shuts down..
