Popular Post Fiddlesticks
Here's a place they call the Black Temple in Chiang Rai. Not really a temple but rather a work of a local artist.

Popular Post Fiddlesticks
Today was driving around Chiang Rai and found this place back up in the hills SW of the city. It seems that Thai will put a temple in just about every cave they find. This one is called Wat Tham Pra.

Popular Post Rob8891
OK... You asked for it.... the plan is to do this town by town (in the few that I have visited). Some were taken on a wee pocket camera (excuses excuses) and the night time ones have all been taken sans tripod. So, here goes the first batch. Ayutthaya part 1...... Temple names are titles of photos. ... Not strictly a wat, but as you'll see, it's where monks graduate... We saw this as part of a boat trip round the city.... worth doing, especially at dusk A very old unadorned temple
Popular Post Rob8891
Ayutthay part 2... Never got in here.... we zoomed past in a longtail boat The monk's living quarters.... Wonder if they've got a spare room...It looks OK! Dammit, DAL, you beat me to it again!
Popular Post Rob8891
Ayutthay (last bit, you'll be pleased to hear!) Sorry... I think this has been done before too....slightly different angle. These were new houses being built for the monks.... I'll bet there's a waiting list at this Wat! Next stop Chiang Mai.......
Popular Post Rob8891
I live in CM..... and seem to have collected THOOOOSANDS of wat pics (easy to do in CM, and quantity not quality, perhaps) I'll spare you all the common ones and try to find a few that are a little different (I hope!)... One of the most photographed wats in CM.... these were on the evening of Visakha Bucha Day... Blurry as I didn't want to use flash during the display The girls played and danced beautifully....except the one on the left!! There always folk begging at Doi Suthep. These guys were special!

Rob8891
Thanks, Fiddlesticks.... not sure which part of me might be recycled (except as ash), but am afraid that some of the photos are re-hashes of previous posts.
