Jai Dee
THE CABINET APPROVES 13 WEATHER RADAR PROCUREMENT The Cabinet has approved the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry’s proposal to purchase 13 Weather Radars under the budget of 40 million baht. Following the Cabinet meeting in LOEI (เลย) Province, the Deputy Spokesperson of Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. DANUPORN POONAKARN (ดนุพร ปุณณกันต์), said that the radars will be installed in artificial rainmaking airplanes. Currently, Thailand has 28 airplanes, and only 15 of them have the Vector Radar installed. The radar will help in the artificial rainmaking operation. He said that airplanes used to make artificial rain have to face a high risk during the operation. Hence, the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry and the Cabinet have deemed that the Weather Radar will provide more safety to the pilots as well as the government’s properties. The Cabinet has assigned the ministry to discuss the amount of the budget for procuring the radars with the Bureau of the Budget.
