CHON BURI, June 29 - Two British men were arrested for alleged botched automatic teller machine (ATM) thefts in Si Racha district in the seaside province of Chon Buri, according to local police.

Alexander Milbourn, 25, and Shaun Edward Tracy, 34, were detained at their room in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district as they are suspected in the attempted theft of an ATM at the Bank of Ayudhya’s Laem Chabang branch at late night of June 21, Pol Lt-Gen Panya Mamen, chief of Provincial Police Region 2 announced on Friday.

The two Britons said that they and a third man, identified only as Richard, also a suspect but who has so far evaded arrest, attempted the three ATM thefts in Si Racha district, at Bangkok Bank's Bo Win branch on June 14, Bank of Ayudhya’s Laem Chabang branch on June 21 and Bank of Ayudhya’s Bo Win branch on June 28.

The suspects explained that they fastened a tow sling around the ATM attached to the vehicle's bumper and then drove the car at high speed in order to pull the machine out of the bank's wall.

The men said that they had run out of money and were unemployed, so they decided to take money from the ATMs.

However, they failed to get cash from any machine in the three attempts.

Police seized a tow sling, a white sedan used for the June 21st ATM theft, a grey vehicle used for the June 28th ATM theft and a pickup truck found hidden in Bang Lamung district.

Initially, the pair was taken to Laem Chabang police station for further investigation and legal processing, while police are speeding up the search for the third man, who remains at large. (MCOT online news)

Two Pattaya Brits arrested following three bungled ATM Robberies

29_06_55_1_3.jpg

PATTAYA:--Two of three British suspects thought to be involved in the theft of three ATM machines within Chonburi Province have been arrested by Provincial Transnational Crime Suppression Police Officers.

The three incidents occurred in Laem Chabang and Bowin which is in Sriracha District. Police were able to arrest the suspects by-chance after they traced the nylon cord used to grab the ATM machines to a shop in Sriracha District. When Police went to the shop, the two suspects were inside and later found to be the two involved in the ATM thefts.

Police Lieutenant General Panya, Region 2 Police Commissioner, held a press conference at Chonburi Police Headquarters on Friday morning to announce the arrest of Mr. Alexander Milbourn aged 24 and Mr. Shaun Edward Tracy aged 34 who were both unemployed and had resided in Pattaya for the last 10 years. They had allegedly devised a plan with a third man, also British, known only as “Richard”, to use Nylon rope attached to a rented vehicle with the other end attached to the cash box of the ATM machine which would then be yanked from the wall. In all three cases the cash boxes could not be opened and the broken ATM machines would be abandoned by the assailants.

The men are thought to have gained inspiration for the robberies from the “Fast Five” Movie which used the same method to successfully remove money from ATM Machines. Police are now hunting for the third suspect in this case and for now Mr. Milbourn and Mr. Tracy remain behind bars pending Court proceedings.

<deleted>' dumb ass falangs.

Thanks for giving us other falangs such a good status here in our home the LOS.

Every day the Thais realize that falang are not what they used to think we are (good, smart, etc...) because of dumb sots like these.

Please, go pull your antics somewhere other than my home.

Falang...good? Smart? 555!!! When were these ever the prevailing opinions of falang?

(Yes, you naughty boys, leave these types of antics to the Thai folk.)

ahahaha.....That is a good one, what a bunch of idiots - i bet those ATM's are equipped with some sort of tracing device as well - as something like that only cost af few bucks in good old China.

Btw...good on them, that they found good rigging gear here. I met a Danish guy working for a Danish company, producing industrial grade wires/repeaters. He was stuck in Phuket for a week - as the Thais he was working with, could not find any high grade rigging gear on the island, so it had to be sent from Bangkok :-)
