nidieunimaitre
Man gives wife a golden ring with a huge diamond. Wife looks at it, and says 'it is fake'! Man replies: What???? Those frauds! I will go back to Mae Sai straight away, and demand my 5 dollars back.
Popular Post Maejo Man
I hear that once a year sale on gems is coming up in BKK. Half price and you get certificates of authenticity. How can you go wrong? Are you guys in or are you too busy paying double for warm beers at farang owned establishments? Well you managed to cock up two topics, and now I see you are going for a hat trick with another. Where did they put that ignore button
PingandSingh
Yesterday, I bought a Hoegaarden (Belgian white beer) six-pack there. I had to throw away all. The beer had a very strange taste and smell; completely different from the original. The bottle however was exactly as the original. The owner seems to be a top Thai immigration official so you can take it easily into Thailand and trash it there. A truly shame as it is a nice beer. People buying and not knowing the beer will give bad publicity to it. Do not buy there. Maybe you were unlucky or maybe I've been lucky. I have bought loads of Hoegaarden and Corona's at this shop and they've all tasted fine. Regards Will Hi Will,You lucky, me unlucky..... OK, before trashing the Hoegaarden six pack I took some pics.Maybe not all that clear but I will NOT drink this stuff; black inclusions up to 1 cm long. All bottles the same and to me I bought something very dirty at the Mae Sai border. Thighlander
I am referring to the one by the bridge. I've been shopping Duty free at the AZ/Mexico border for years. Real stuff, deep discounts and it is exempt from Federal and State Taxes. http://www.ueta.com/what_duty_free.php They get 24 USD for a carton of real Marlboros from Richmon, VA...MO headquarters. How much does it cost to get from Chiang Mai Thailand to the AZ/Mexico border? Cost me 91 USD and 65000 frequent flyer miles. The duty frees are physically in Arizona, so that is even more consumer protection. The Marlboros you get in CM are not the desired Virginia ones, experienced smokers can tell the difference. Still pretty cheap, though. Actually I would like to go some day I have a uncle there in Arizona. Get up to Sedona and a little bit more of the country. I was to late for the gunfight at the OK corral. Didn't really feel like spending another day there. I was told that the cigarets we get here are made in the Philippines. Can't swear to it. Sedona is a tourist' trap. I'm sure they don't put heir prices for beers out front, either. You are probably correct about the Philipines....thought I had seen some cigs made in Singapore. Used to be hard to mention Philipines and Thailand in the same breadth....how the mighty have fallen.

Or you can pay full-price, then get a 60% refund via the vendor's Nigerian-subsidiary, you just need to supply your full bank-account details, as I understand ? How can you go wrong ? Yeast sediment? Not uncommon for that type of beer I think? But no argument against not consuming something from Mae Sai.. kind of peculiar why anyone would buy food/drink/medications from there in the first place. At least in China they hand out the death penalty for poisoning people; then stuff ends up in Burma and then at the border. beb
Hmm, I'm actually making a border run up there tomorrow and staying the night. Since I'll be there, I thought I'd pick up a small gift for the family that runs my guest house. Can anybody make any suggestions for something that would be unique for them? Nothing elaborate but more of a gesture. Thanks!
Thighlander
They are still selling the Sadaam Hussein and friends playing cards, maybe you could post them behind the fron desk.
ripstanley
. I've never known anyone foolish enough to try the viagra or cialis sold by the cigarette vendors, and I certainly wouldn't try them myself. I have edited your post. I hope you do not mind. It is this part I wish to comment on. I agree totally with what you have stated but some people must buy or they would not survive. The number of young children trying to sell these good is also amaziing. I was approached by about 15 different kids trying to sell these goods. I was with my wife and family

YoungBrit
The post sounded like it was all about Mexico. I had to read the title again twice. Phone that I bought didn't last long but the watch I bought works great. Young Brit
