TAT HOLDS THE THAILAND ORCHID EXPO 2006, AIMING TO DISPLAY THE BEAUTY OF THAI ORCHIDS

The Tourism Authority of Thailand will hold the Thailand Orchid Expo 2006, with an aim to display the beauty of Thai orchids to tourists from all over the world.

The TAT organized a press tour, taking the journalists to the world-renowned Damnoen Saduak (ดำเนินสะดวก) Floating Market in Ratchaburi Province. There, they purchased many types of fresh fruits, and later, the press members visited the orchid garden in Nakhon Pathom Province.

Along the Damnoen Saduak Waterway, there are 3 main markets, namely Klong Lad Plee (คลองลัดพลี) Market, Klong Po Hak (คลองโพหัก) Market, and Klong Sri Surat (ศรีสุราษฎร์) Market. In each of these markets, merchants will row their boats filled with fresh vegetables and fruits. With this beautiful scenery, local and foreign tourists alike have been attracted to this marketplace.

In the afternoon, the press members traveled down to the Mr. Adisak Hongsin and Mr. Noppadol Parkprot’s orchid gardens, where more than 30 species of orchids are being grown. These orchids will also be displayed at the Thailand Orchid Expo 2006, which will be held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from January 25th and 29th.

At the expo, varieties of orchids, including the largest and the most expensive orchids, will be shown. More than 30 orchid growers will also participate in this event, where many activities will be organized.
