A woman in the family of well-known Chonburi politician “Singtothong” was caught stealing a motorbike parked at her son’s Jomtien school. Her gang of thieves stole motorbikes all around Chonburi to buy money for ya-ice.

SATTAHIP – At 12 p.m., the arrests of three motorbike thieves was annnounced at Na Jomtien police station, Chonburi province; by Pol. Col. Sathean Boonkham, Superintendent; Pol. Lt. Col. Peerapong Laothanavin, Deputy Superintendent; and the detective police team.

Arrested were Ms. Arocha or Ice Singtothong, age 26, the relative of well-known politician; Mr. Vithoon or Deaw Lekdee, age 33; and Mr. Aow, age 19, an illegal Burmese immigrant.

The suspects are accused of together stealing property at night by using a vehicle, and also receiving stolen property. Police seized the evidence of ya-ice and motorbikes from the suspects.

Police seized two motorbikes: a grey Honda Wave 100, license number NGOR KHOR JOR-883 Chonburi; and a black-brown Honda Click, red license number NGOR-2389 Sattahip.

Police also seized the motorcycle frame of a stripped Honda motorbike, vehicle number NF100RE-0075333, license number PHOR LOR-818 Chonburi.

Pol. Col. Sathean Boonkham said the August 10 theft of the Honda Click motorbike led to the arrests of the suspects. The motorbike was stolen by two thieves while it was parked in front of the door of Ratpradit school, Tambon Na Jomtien, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

However, footage from the school’s CCTV cameras clearly revealed the face of Ms. Arocha as one of the thieves stealing the motorbike.

Police knew her identity because her son is studying at the school, so Ms. Arocha frequently visited the school. The police later arrested her when she came to pick up her son after school.

Further investigation by police led to the arrest of two of her friends in the motorbike theft gang. Police are still seeking a fourth gang member who escaped, Mr. Sarayuth or Pap Yosaorn, age 20.

The defendants confessed that they had stolen motorbikes several times previously. They sold the stolen bikes for 2,000 THB each for money to buy ya-ice.

Pol. Lt. Col. Peeraphong Laothanavin said the arrest of the theft gang will help prevent more instances of stolen motorbikes in Amphur Sattahip.

Police are continuing to address the problem of motorbike thefts in the area. The police commander wants to remind motorbike owners to be vigilant against theft, and to make sure their bikes are secure at all times.

He asked the public to help local police in dealing with the problem. Anyone with information about motorbike theft gangs can notify the Na Jomtien police station at any time, he said.
