Jai Dee
Agriculturists in Krabi reduce their coffee plantations and turn them into palm plantations for sustainable income. Having faced a problem of pricing and labour, Coffee farmers in Krabi's Lamtap, Nua Klong and Plai Phraya districts are now cutting down the coffee plantations by over 20% and replacing them by oil palm plantations and papaya. The information was given by a head official of Krabi Internal Trade Office Jennarong Sri-in who went on to explain that the agriculturalists see rubber and oil palm as higher value cash crops which provide more steady income for them. Krabi has around 40,000 rai of coffee plantation now with about 6,000 tons production per year. Mr. Jennarong also pointed out that this year's season can harvest around 2,300 tons of coffee grains.
