Burma’s government has issued passports to 19 members of the 88 Generation Students group, according to the group’s spokesperson Zaw Min. Speaking to The Irrawaddy on Wednesday, Zaw Min said that all but one of the 19 applicants had previously been denied the travel documents. Earlier this week, 88 Generation leader Min Ko Naing refused to accept his passport in a show of solidarity with his colleagues. Min Ko Naing had been scheduled to travel to the US to receive the 2012 Democracy Award from the National Endowment for Democracy along with four other leading Burmese activists.
