Jai Dee
CODI HAS APPROVED 40 MILLION BAHT TO UPGRADE PUBLIC UTILITIES IN THE THREE SOUTHERNMOST PROVINCES The Community Organization Development Institute (CODI) has approved a budget of 40 milllion baht to improve public utilities for eight communities in the Deep South. CODI Director SOMSOOK PUNYABUNCHA (สมสุข บุญญะบัญชา) commented on the solutions on housing problems. She said a pilot project, namely BAN MANKHONG (บ้านมั่นคง) housing project, was previously implemented in the three communities of PATTANI (ปัตตานี) Province. As for the 40 million baht budget, it will be used to develop and improve public facilities in eight communities in NARATHIWAT's MUANG (เมือง), TAK BAI (ตากใบ) and SU-NGAI KOLOK (สุไหง-โกลก) Districts as well as in YALA's Muang District. This project is expected to solve poverty problems for 1,524 households, or around 8,100 residents in these communities. The Director of CODI, however, said that housing is still the problem for many villages in the Deep South. Nevertheless, she said this problem can be solved if all local agencies and government units work well together and share the same objectives.
