teatree
Recently visited Yangon and can recommend the Eastern Hotel. Nothing fancy, but clean and relatively cheap (hotel prices in Yangon are pretty high compared to Thailand) had wifi in room and breakfast. Near to the center of town and the staff were very nice and eager to please. 35 usd a night if you book directly - easternhtl-at-gmail.com - (about 60 if you book through the online agencies like the one that sponsers Thaivisa - ag0da) 15usd for a pick up at the airport. A five minute walk away is a branch of the Indian food chain 'Golden City Chetty' - excellent food and really cheap. Yangon itself is very interesting. It's worth having a stroll around the center to look at the old colonial buildings. Very run down but you can imagine what the area must have looked like a hundred years ago. SeaVisionBurma
Hi teatree, Thanks for the info. Do you have any photos of the room(s) or hotel itself? Wifi in room is definitely a plus for that price range. For $35 was it a twin/single/double? $15 for the airport pick up is a bit steep though.... cheers SVB
