StreetCowboy
I delete some of the older quotes, taking care to match the opening and closing quote codes. It's difficult, though, if you want to delete intermediate off-topic quotes. SC
kurnell
All too complicated. Nobody wants to scroll through page after page of quotes but there must be a better option than the current.
BigJohnnyBKK
All too complicated. Nobody wants to scroll through page after page of quotes but there must be a better option than the current. You just have to be careful to keep the matched pairs of quotes intact. And of course don't do selective editing to misrepresent the intended meaning of the quotee's. Quick-and-dirty - starting from the right/out side of the second-to-last "quote" tag, if you just CTRL-HOME up and delete all but the very last start tag, you're left with the single quote you're responding to. Or for those who find the above challenging, reply to the thread without doing any quoting and just copy and paste the relevant text, inserting quote marks yourself - not as elegant but it works. smokie36
Its a netiquette issue. Repeating three or four quotes is bad really when you only need to quote the person you are responding to. Its an annoyance but we are all guilty!
Puccini
Majic, in the above reply you quoted three posts. How is the reader supposed to know to which post you are replying without having to read through everything? This is how I quote:
smokie36
This issue is even more annoying when posting from a mobile device. On these you only see the last post....reply and get that message. Please be more considerate in use of the quote function. Please be more considerate in use of the quote function. A mobile device is a pain, cos you don't have a mouse, and all you can really do is lots of back spaces. Otherwise, it's easy. It's just a matter of finding the start and end quote tags for the quote that you want to delete (including any inner quotes).
