A Thailand-based rights group has released a new report detailing ongoing abuses in Burma. The Network for Human Rights Documentation–Burma said in its biannual report released on Thursday that forced labor, the use of child soldiers and torture “remain grave concerns†in the country, despite recent improvements in its political situation. The group said it had documented 27 cases of forced labor, 26 cases of land confiscation and 21 cases of torture from April to September of this year. The report highlighted the issue of illegal land confiscation, which has intensified as the economy opens up.
