Robby nz Posted November 26, 2012 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Got on a bibbed minow in the Chow Praya River 4 days ago. My little fishing mate who knows most local fish has never seen one before. An old lady I know says she has not seen one for many years and it is called Bpla gae. Also does anyone know of an ID book on Thai freshwater fish and where to get one. I don't personally believe that myself. I am guessing you haven't watched river monsters? A series with some good fishing but full of BS stories in my opinion. For example. Pacu eating mens bits when they o swimming, a Thai man castrated by a snakehead fish, alligator gar eating people. Want one of the big ones now. That's going to be hard. I think you'd have to go somewhere quite remote. However if you can find some deep channels or rocky undercuts it is possible. I don't think breeding adults would need to be very big but I do think that 150lb fish and bigger are to be found in the wild. If 300lb stingray can survive in the Bang Pakong then a lot is possible.
