Cber i bet you like i thought he was never going to get extradited, that cynicism was clearly wrong thus no need to continue with that way of thinking until proven otherwise.

No idea what you're on about.

But I know it isn't related to countering my point in any meaningful manner.

Ah yes Cber i see you are one of those posters on Thaivisa, i was pointing out your cynicism was wrong, yet you seem to wish to continue it.

So you must be one of those posters on Thaivisa that think their opinion is law and nobody is entitled to another opinion.

5 million baht is peanuts, this case is too high profile for him to be out in a couple of years.

I would imagine his lawyers will soak that up pretty quick....Even if there is a plea bargain in the works, the attorneys will squeeze out whatever sheckles are available.

Well cber is clearly cynical and i merely pointed out that our cynicism was wrong with regards the extradition, and to give Thailand a chance on this case. Where have i gone overboard making out my opinion is law? I merely retorted to his needlessly mocking post.

I havent posted in Thaivisa for years as its full of bitter expats who are desperate to start an argument for the sake of it, not too dissimilar to Lee Aldhouse.

I'm highly surprised he didn't appeal this all the way to the European Court of Human Rights as he would have had a reasonable chance of preventing the extradition, that's not to say that he would have been allowed to get away with it.

I do wonder if any time he's served in the UK prison system will count towards his final sentence, if not then it's possible he decided to get it over with rather than drag it out for another few years only to potentially have his sentence eventually start from day 1 in Thailand if he lost the appeal.

I'm pretty sure a lot of behind the scenes dealing will have gone on here between the Aldhouse lawyers, the FCO and their Thai counterparts.

If anything ever happens to this Aldhouse guy while he's in prison in Thailand it will backfire spectacularly on both the Thai and UK Governments and could have profound effects on any future requests from anywhere in Europe.

Any repercussions of what happens in Thailand will go right back to the British government.

Yes I think the sentence has already been agreed. He will have the kid gloves treatment to an extent but the length of sentence will be interesting as the UK has a policy where if you transfer you serve the entire remaining sentence I believe.

I fail to understand why this is so big deal? He is like Paris Hilton, who's every move is followed by media.. and talked by followers.

Yet another murder in Phuket. There should not be anything to be exited about.

Let him die in prison quietly.

Maybe because events leading up to this one were caught on camera and he done a runner which at the time lead to a high profile manhunt. The guy he killed was seemingly a decent chap who had managed to get through 2 tours in Iraq, and Lee is despised locally by all who met him and people want to see justice, plus its the first time anyone has been extradited to Thailand from the UK at least in living memory.

Dressed in a black t-shirt and carrying his personal belongings in a large, clear plastic sack, the shaven-headed Aldhouse looked defiant and focused.

Aldhouse was escorted from the UK by Intranee Sumawong, Executive Director of International Affairs at the Office of the Attorney General in Bangkok and officers from Interpol.
