MGLinearArt
Hi guys, quick question, in order to extend my travels through Thailand (and lighten my stupidly heavy bags) I'm considering selling two of my camera lenses, nothing major, and would probably only get < 20k baht for both, but still.. wonder if anyone knows any places that would purchase second hand? I've seen a few places online that sell second hand, so presumably they have to buy from someone.. Any tips appreciated
HeijoshinCool
Well, you are assuming they buy them. I have never seen any used equipment anywhere in BKK. Thais don't want used. Sorry.
mogandave
You might try the classifieds on this site or Craig's list.
RAZZELL
Well, you are assuming they buy them. I have never seen any used equipment anywhere in BKK. Thais don't want used. Sorry. There's a camera store at the top of Pantip which sells second-hand camera gear. I have also seen several stores which sell a lot of old manual film gear. 7by7
There used to be shops around the Kao San Road that would buy almost anything from travelers/tourists; but that was some time ago; don't know if they are still there. If they are, I doubt that you'd get as good a price as you would from a specialist photography shop, though.
MGLinearArt
Cheers all, stupidly in the last week of leaving the UK I spent £300 on two lenses, okay one of which I use, but the one that cost £220 is so close to another that I brought that it seems pointless having it.. Instead I could have brought an extra 10,000 baht with me... lessons learned, lessons learned..

A lot of lenses to be learned Last suggestion: give them away to someone. Can you do that?

MGLinearArt
35mm 2.0 Canon original 70-300 Tamron f4-5.6 And yeah Astral, I thought that if somewhere sells second hand they have to come from someone originally.. unless it's like used stock from the display cameras or something! So I'll go down tomorrow and check out the MBK mall, hoping they will speak enough English to understand
Curt1591
My neighbor and I had the "new v. used" discussion last night. I, farang, buy new. He, Thai, buys used. I have never had any problems; he has only had a couple. Our other neighbor, Thai, buys new and used. I guess that there are Thais that buy used. FotoFile will buy your lenses, but they won't pay much. The only way to get any money would be Craigslist.

angiud
Fotofile camera shop, at ground floor in MBK dep.store, buy second hand photo equipment, in good conditions, good brands and not the cheap plastic glasses. Of course not at the best price, due to the fact that they going to resell. Small bargain space and better offer if you buy something or just change
