The latin name is Delonix regina and is a Rainforest native to Madagascar (I looked the source up) , i thought it was Malaysia and India . I learnt the common name as being Poiceiana . Beautiful tree ,often used as a street tree in Brisbane and further north in Oz.

Flame of the Forest Butea monospermaThis tree gets up to 50 ft high, with stunning flower clusters. It loses its leaves as the flowers develop, January - March. http://www.plantcreations.com/butea_monosperma.htm
