takahe
I went for Myanmar visa on 26-2-2013. Suggest reaching the embassy early (they open at 9.00). Otherwise one will be left standing in the blazing sun as the Q stretches out for a long distance into Pan road. All applicants require a passport copy to be attached - otherwise risk a long walk. Downloading the form from this forum will help too. Two photographs - one pasted and one clipped on to the appl. 810 baht for third day visa. If express visa is required, then copy of air ticket must be attached. Hope this helps.
Popular Post SeaVisionBurma
Thanks for the update takahe...Yes - good advice to get there early - it is very very busy now, and beware any day either side of a holiday, the queue goes for miles.A little more info for first time readers to add to what takahe has said above:Embassy in Thanon Pan opens at 0900, closes at midday (morning is for lodging applications only)Same day (express) visa is 1260 baht - must show an air ticket for travel the following day or come up with a good reason for getting it fast (eg heading back to another province)Next day is 1050 baht2nd day (as above) is 810 baht. You will receive a yellow receipt - Note what is stamped on it!Must have: Completed form (front and back for tourist visa, single side for Business/Social visa), 2 photos, and photocopy of your passport bio page.If you don't have these, you'll be sent away to get them, and you'll slow down the queue! IMPORTANTWhen you enter the embassy in the mornings for applications - EVERYONE queues up at Window 4 - on the far left. Here your application is checked over for completion, and you are given a queue number corresponding to the type of visa you are applying for. Then you sit and wait for your number to be announced. From here, you will be called by number to your corresponding Counter (1,2,3) and you will only then submit your application and pay for your visa. Collection:Embassy opens at 1530 (3:30pm), closes at 1630 (4:30PM) - for picking up completed passports only.Your yellow receipt tells you which window to line up at for collection - Business visas at Counter 1, Express tourist visas Counter 2, Thai passports Counter 3, Normal tourist visas (non-express) at Counter 4. Counters are numbered right-left.Line up at the counter number corresponding to the stamp on your yellow receipt. The morning queuing seems to cause the most confusion for first timers - and in these very busy times, it does slow the process down for everyone else. So as a special treat (and perhaps a first for the Myanmar forum?) - this might be a good time to post photos of the outside AND inside of the embassy. The main entrance on Thanon Pan. Does anyone want a map? (13.720659,100.524323) Let me know and I'll post it. The embassy entrance for visa applications is here - NOT on SathonTai (that's the entrance for Burmese nationals) Left window = Counter 4. All applicants line up here first in the morning to receive your queue number. In the afternoon, this is for normal tourist visa collection. From the right, Counters 1 (Business) ,2 (Express), 3 (Thai passports) Any other queries please feel free to ask. Cheers SVB
householder
This has put me off applying for another 6 month ME visa in April, three days before the embassy closes. I think I'll just do the business VOA thing instead at the airport.

I think I'll just do the business VOA thing instead at the airport. Still manageable - just needs some time and patience. If you can do the biz VOA - all the better.. Personally the sooner the e-visa portal is up and running the better - we were promised it back in June last year, but the website still isn't live
QED
I went for a Business Visa last month and will have to do again next month. I was told that I must attend personally, no exceptions, but I saw many agents in each queue with dozens of passports. Anyone know the lowdown on this? I could really do without wasting another day doing this.

You can certainly send someone else to pick up the completed passport for you - I have done this for others on a number of occasions (Business and Tourist visas). I have also lodged Tourist visa applications for other people too without incident. However while I haven't actually lodged a business visa application on someone else's behalf myself, I know of someone who has. Lets wait for some more definitive replies from other members - but I will also follow this up myself directly with the embassy and get back to you as soon as I can one way or another. I saw agents both submitting in the morning and collecting in the afternoon, for business visas, but not sure what kind of 'special relationship' these guys have with the embassy.... SeaVisionBurma
Confirmed - agents CAN do business visa applications on your behalf. Embassy says its better if you have already had a business visa issued previously, although if the paperwork is in order it should be okay. No guarantees on this, just going on info from 2 different people who have had business visas issued on their behalf at the Bangkok embassy. SeaVisionBurma
Thanks SVB, It is confirmed? When I applied in Singapore, I've to filled up like a few pages and the form is not the same CP3 - I know the form is correct, as I did directly ask the person in charge at the embassy a few months ago when I picked up copies of all the forms to post here as downloads. I don't know what accompanying evidence they will ask for with the form - this might be worth asking. I imagine there will be other document copies to submit with the form - as to what they are, sorry I can't help. Anyone else submitted an application for Social Visa (Entry Visa) to the Bangkok embassy previously? Please let us know.... SVB
Tomtomtom69
Can Vietnamese also apply for a tourist visa in Bangkok? Is express service also offered for them? I'm assuming yes, but I know that sometimes the requirements for foreigners from neighboring countries can be a bit fickle.
SeaVisionBurma
Answer: I don't know - but cannot see why not. Try and see. Can't imagine why Vietnamese nationals could not apply at the Bangkok embassy. Best to go along and ask.
CP3
I read somewhere online that an invitation letter(Sample at Embassy) from local person and their IC + Form will be needed to apply for SC Visa. Appreciate whoever go to embassy will confirm the information and get a copy of invitation letter.
