Didn't look scenic from my vantage point, but I didn't go around the lake to see other areas since I was stopping off at Pilot 111 on my way home... If anyone has more accurate directions to find the guys that guide there, I'd appreciate it. I could spend hours lost and looking for a specific location on the lake. Try "search". http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/377263-jomtien-fishing-park-vs-pattaya-fishing-park/?hl=%2Bpattaya#entry4954737 If you try Jomtien you can get there by sorngtau as far as you can go East along the sea front then walking a couple of blocks - then down a soi (signposted last I was there). Soi dogs are mangy but OK. Jomtien is best fished as far from the entrance as possible and cast to the back corner. Quite good food there and pretty reasonable price - Chao Phraya type catfish give quite a good fight. Cost 50-60$ would be my guess for a full day including hire of gear, bait, food and a couple of beers. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Pattaya fishing park has some of the biggest Mekong catfish in pattaya but they have sold the land which the fishery is on and are about to move near Makro but I don't know exactly where or when. Cost is about 400/500 baht to fish, rod, reel and some help of the guides(although the guides do pester you to buy them beers). Betong is probably my favourite fishery, has Mekong to abut 30kg, Some small Siamese carp and plenty Sawai plus lots of the smaller fish. It is loocated just off Sukhumvit, if you go towards Pattaya Nua from Klang the fishery is down a soi on the left just as the flyover starts to get onto highway 7. There is a sign but you will have to drive slowly and keep your eyes peeled. I think if you google it you will find an address. Price is 100 baht to fish, they do have rods, reels and guides for hire but not sure of the price but I think they will be very cheap. Barra fishing park is located on Soi Nernplabwaarn 28, has Big mekong, siamese carp, china carp, pacu, yeesok and some other smaller fish. The cleanest and most scenic fishery out of the 3, it can be quite hard and slow some days so if you only have a day or 2 I probably wouldn't go there. Price is 300 baht and includes rod, reel and some bait. I hope this helps a little, sorry I couldn't be more specific on locations but I haven't really got time right now. Bang pra ...have been many times, There is only one place where the boats are, if you look carefully its possible to see it on GE and quite easy to find, You have to hire a boat complete with boatman who will paddle (no motors allowed) no guides as such but the boatman knows where to go, The boats are small thai type long tail boats but of course without the motor, start is around 6-7am and finishing as the sun goes down.
