Styles caused all the problems last night. Dodgy decisions, and card waving like he was at an auction. It just got more niggly the more he lost control.

He should not get any more matches....F*ckin meglomaniac!

Apart from that, I thought it was a decent game. Liverpool should have taken more of the chances they had, but some players left their shooting boots at home.

Thought Pennant had a good game.

Good to see Torres get his first goal.

Looks like Veronin is being saved for Europe-still like to see him get a full game with Torres against Premiership competition.

The commentator said something about Torres having teething problems since moving to Liverpool - anyone know more about this?

There has been a lot of talk about the summer signings...but Chelsea got new player Rob Styles at a steal...

Absolute shocking decision " he had a clear view" these so called Pro Refs keep making such BIG and obvious mistakes EACH YEAR and changing the fortunes of the games.Same story again a fantastic game of football was overshadowed again by the officials...No need to talk about other games but what was he doing? he lost control and respect if there was any from the players...

Torres ' Fantastic Start' looked leggy at the end and amazing Kuyt work rate/attitude seems to rub of even on the new boys...

We got a Real Steel to are play from what I have seen Could be a EPL Title this year and Champions League...

Well at least one thing remains constant for the Chelsea boys...Still boring...Snooze...

Chelski are done with for now , we'll see you soon :D . They were there for the taking but at least we didnt get beat.

I've been really happy with are performances so far this season and pleased to see Rafa has finally realised that he has to play his strongest team all the time and that means Steven Gerrard has to play in the middle.

I hope he plays Mascherano along side Gerrard for the away game against Sunderland , I think the boy is world class and offers a bit more than Alonso when it comes to getting stuck in :o .

Loved Torres' goal , he went past ben haim like he wasnt there :D .

no doubt the scousers are going to bang on about the penalty decision which was as wrong as the free kick wrongly awarded at villa last week, which gerrard scored from. gerrard cheated last week so som nam na. what goes around comes around.

Bullshit. Stay in Samui, mate. That was a valid free kick, and even it wasn't, it was way more of a foul than the penalty. Also, Gerrard had to actually put it in the net which shows the quality of their side above Aston Villas. Valid win, but go on believing it if you like. At first I thought that wasn't a foul but after watching it again there was obstruction and grabbing of the jersey by the Villa player. Free kicks are given like that all the time but it rarely results in a goal. Not a foregone conclusion. With a penalty, a much higher standard is expected. In such a close game, it was a horrible decision.

But that's football, it happens. We should have scored 2 goals to be sure.

In England for a few months, hansen+Shearer both said no free kick, great goal from the free kick but no foul. proven on match of the day. Torres will make sure you get your share of wrong penalty decisions as does ronaldo for man utd thats why it was great to see him get his orders in the week. over the season things balance out.

Panel set to give Heinze verdict _44067997_heinze203.jpg Heinze joined United from Paris St Germain in 2004A Premier League arbitration panel is likely to decide on Gabriel Heinze's case on Tuesday as he seeks to leave Manchester United for rivals Liverpool.

The 29-year-old Argentine defender claims United gave him written permission to pursue a transfer to another club for a fee of £6.8m.

United are adamant they will not allow him to leave for a domestic rival.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and chief executive David Gill travelled to Monday's hearing to put their case. Heinze has not been named in a United squad this season, while French club Lyon are keen to sign him.

Saturday, 25 August 2007 Arsenal v Man City, 15:00 Chelsea v Portsmouth, 15:00 Sunderland v Liverpool, 12:45

Sunday, 26 August 2007 Man Utd v Tottenham, 16:00

So good chance of 3 points for LFC and maybe the other 3 will drop points this weekend?

I think Sunderland away could be a tough one, but Liverpool are starting to look stronger.

I'll go for 0-2

Chelsea could drop points, and Man Utd will find it tough if they don't get their shooting boots on.

The Arsenal v City game looks a good one.

After watchin Sunderland in their 0-3 defeat against Wigan I fancy are chances a lot more , especially if Dwight Yorke is playing :o .

So the run stands , 50 odd years and counting :D:o :

Heinze loses bid for Anfield move _44067997_heinze203.jpg Heinze joined United from Paris St Germain in 2004Manchester United's Gabriel Heinze has lost his attempt to force the club to allow him to move to rivals Liverpool.

United disputed claims from Heinze, 29, who said the Red Devils gave him written permission to pursue a transfer to another club for a fee of £6.8m.

The matter was referred to a Premier League arbitration panel.

The hearing concluded that the written letter Heinze possessed "was unambiguous in that it envisages only an international transfer".

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and chief executive David Gill travelled to Monday's hearing to put their case.

The Old Trafford side said they did not want to sell Heinze to a Premier League rival.

Transfers between the two north-west rivals are rare, and the last player to move from United to Liverpool was Phil Chisnal in 1962.

Heinze has the right to appeal against the decision, although with the transfer window due to shut on 31 August, he is short of time if he wants to leave Old Trafford. Any appeal will be heard by the Premier League's appeals committee.

Reds ponder Hillsborough memorial

empty seats in their new stadium as a memorial to the fans who died at Hillsborough in 1989, reports BBC Radio Merseyside.

Ninety-six Reds fans died after being crushed on the terraces during an FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest at Sheffield Wednesday's ground.

Last month Liverpool revealed their plans for a new 60,000 all-seater stadium, which is set to open in 2010.

One idea for the ground is to leave seats empty to form the shape of 96.

I hope this happens too. Would be a nice memorial to them.

That day at Hillsborough changed Liverpool FC and English football for ever.

You can read plenty about how it affected the players, manager and club in the various biogs.

Here's one from John Barnes: http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/history/barnes.shtm

BIG-MATCH FACTS

Roy Keane approaches the end of a highly successful first year in football management, with a Sunderland side that have made the best start of the promoted clubs.

This home match with Liverpool comes one week before Keane's eagerly anticipated first return to Manchester United on 1 September.

Unbeaten Liverpool need to score once to total 7,000 league goals in their history.

Sunderland are endeavouring to record their 50th league victory over the Merseysiders.

When these clubs last met in November 2005, Sunderland were rock bottom in the Premier League, and Liverpool the defending European champions. Liverpool won to register their fifth of what turned out to be 10 straight league victories, Sunderland suffered a seventh of nine straight losses.

CLUB FORMSUNDERLAND

1. Already bagged four points after the first three matches. Last time they were in the Premier League it took six matches to garner a first point.

2. Beaten 3-0, away to Wigan last time out, but they've not lost back to back league matches in 33 outings since Cardiff (h) and Norwich (a) defeated them on 31 October and 4 November 2006 respectively.

3. Failed to score in one of the last 19 league matches.

4. Roy Keane has masterminded 27 victories from his 44 league matches in charge, and claimed 89 of the 132 available points.

5. Won only two of the last 19 Premier League matches.

6. Not lost a home league game in 2007.

7. Challenging for a sixth successive home league win.

8. Undefeated in 11 league outings at the Stadium of Light; picked up 29 of 33 points (nine wins, two draws) at home, since losing 0-1 against Preston on 30 December.

9. Conceded more penalties in Premier League matches this season than any other club, with the exception of Liverpool. Both have had two spot kicks awarded against them.

10. Not registered three successive home wins in the Premier League since 8 September 2001.

LIVERPOOL

Club stats Fixtures

1. One of seven clubs still holding an unbeaten record in the Premier League. The others are Arsenal, Blackburn, Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle and Portsmouth.

2. A victory would give them seven points and make it their best start to a Premier League season since 2002-03, when they finished fifth.

3. One of two clubs to have taken the lead in all their Premier League matches this season. Manchester City is the other.

4. Registered just one win in five league outings.

5. Conceded more penalties in Premier League matches this season than any other club, with the exception of Sunderland. Both have had two spot kicks awarded against them.

KEY PLAYER NOTES

SUNDERLAND

Michael CHOPRA has scored two of Sunderland's three goals so far.

CHOPRA, who's netted 12 goals in his last 18 games, is a hat trick shy of 50 career league goals (Newcastle, Watford, Barnsley, Cardiff and Sunderland).

Last season's top scorer David CONNOLLY needs one goal to total 100 in his league career (Watford, Wolves, Wimbledon, West Ham, Leicester, Wigan and Sunderland).

LIVERPOOL

The club's four goals have been scored by four different players, three of which were Liverpool players; Steven GERRARD and Fernando TORRES in the Premier League and Andriy VORONIN in Europe.

HEAD TO HEAD Goals from Gavin McCann and Michael Proctor secured a surprise 2-1 victory for the Wearsiders in this corresponding fixture on 15 December 2002. It was one bright spot in a relegation season for Sunderland in which they registered just four victories.
