Khun Watchaporn
With our new child it's time to upgrade from our Sanyo x1400 point and shoot. I'm interested in photography as becoming a hobby and would be interested in getting my first DSLR. Around 15k baht if possible. Up to 20k if required. Any recommendations or info? Thanks. tw25rw
Have a look at a Canon EOS-M. Not strictly a DSLR, but it takes the Canon lenses with an adaptor ans is the same as an EOS650D on the inside.

samuijimmy
I've seen in our local Samui Tesco they have the Canon EOS 500D ... Priced around 15,000 baht for a while now... I have not looked close enough to see if it includes a lens... I have this as a second camera... it's fine! Might be worth a look. (should be in all Tescos)

Chao Lao Beach
Just be aware, once you chose a manufacture that you tend to get in to that "system". You start buying many "gizmo's" that kind of hold you to Canon or Nikon for example. eg, lenses, remotes etc.
Kinnock
Have a look at the Micro 4/3 interchangeable lens cameras. Lumix G, Olympus OM-D and EP-L ranges. They are smaller than DSLR's but similar to operate with full manual and auto. They are a good way to upgrade from point and shoot as they can be used like a compact and like a DSLR. The Lumix G5 is a good deal at the moment as the G6 has just been announced.
Khun Watchaporn
Thanks. I'll have to look into them all when have the time. The Nikon D3100 has also caught my eye. Lazada seems to have a good promotional set for 15k. http://www.lazada.co.th/Nikon-D3100-Kit-Special-Set-78899.html
