schondie
No, it's still on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) but I think i-mobile may push out updates as they seem quite determined to get some of the Samsung market share. Do not keep your hopes up too much for any android updates. If you want a newer version, you may have to get a new model ;-) In my opinion android 4.2 is already well done and I am not missing anything from 4.3 or 4.4 Agreed, 4.2 is pretty decent and reliable. All the glitches have been ironed out and upgrading to 4.3 or 4.4 isn't really necessary. If you feel the need to upgrade the ROM, you have to bite the bullet and install on of the custom ROMS that has been ported to the IQX.
FiftyTwo
To root your I-mobile using WinXP these two files will do it. Install the ADB drivers and reboot, connect your I-mobile with Debug enabled in the developer settings. https://www.dropbox.com/s/cr2934ezh12v0hl/UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi Run the Root Genius programme https://www.dropbox.com/s/gj665uanpjmyutf/RootGenius.exe Wait a couple of minutes then all done. Thanks for advice but I used framaroot to root it. Downloaded from the Play Store and one click later the phone was rooted.

Also, can I know which custom rom works for IQX ? Any Cyanogen ? What are the reasons why someone needs a custom ROM ? Thank you.

Hi thailand beachisland There's a couple of replacement ROMs available (MIUI v4 and v5) on this Facebook page, you've got to join to see the files. https://www.facebook.com/groups/www.imobileiqxultimateusers/ Usually people want to use a custom ROM as it isn't bundled with all the useless stuff that comes with a stock ROM or they want more control over their phone.

schondie
I'd go for the MIUI ROM, it looks good and people seem quite happy with it. A good free tool to remove unwanted apps is All-in-one toolbox (it reminds me of CCleaner for Windows computers); https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=imoblife.toolbox.full I will also have a look for custom ROMS on Filipino Android forums as the IQX range are sold there under the Star Mobile brand. I quite like the look of my phone as I've used the free version of Smart Launcher, it catagorises all of the apps and is a bit quicker than the standard interface. I downloaded the Lenovo Super Camera app - it's very good compared to the stock camera but it does contain a virus. If you download it, use Xprivacy to block it contacting the internet etc. I just paid 138 baht for Smart Launcher Pro, money well spent as it's faster than the stock launcher and categorises all the apps. An added bonus is no bloody Google search bar anywhere. Also all the icons can be changed for free instead of buying another app for that. I'll post some screenshots over the weekend as I'm more than happy with how my phone looks and behaves. It's saved me trying to install a custom ROM. build6
and upgrading to 4.3 or 4.4 isn't really necessary. the new dialer in 4.4 actually looks like a step back in usability if you don't live "The Google Life". but supposed to have a lot of performance/memory footprint enhancements? schondie
I wasn't happy with the stock launcher so I tried out all the replacements such as Go, Next, Buzz and then settled on Smart Launcher Pro. What's good about it that you can change virtually every part of how the phone looks. Does anyone else use this launcher?

thaicookingchef
Hi guys, This phone is good but the battery dies way too fast. Do you know where to buy imobile iqx battery on some Chinese websites ? I guess than i-mobiles sells the battery around 1000 baht when it should cost less than 500, but maybe I am wrong ? Cheers.
damole
I've been using Nova Launcher for a while now. Rooted with Framaroot, one click as described. :-) Unless I'm missing something I still can't get adb to connect to my phone. Any ideas? damole
I recently encrypted my Nexus 7 (2012) and so decided to try my IQX. After encryption neither of my SIMs would connect to any network. Pressing either, "Preferred networks" or "Network operators", had no response. I've since factory reset it and it's working OK again.
