Real Ales And British Beers In Phuket.....not Many But Some

I haven't seen Baltika Beer here yet.

If they start importing "Baltika 9 Strong" for the Russians, I expect to see a lot of drunken behaviour here. It's a high alcohol content beer.

Baltika 7 is available in Villa Market and Central Food Hall but I haven't seen Baltika 9.

Haven't tasted it and have no intention of doing so unless I visit Russia one day.

Imagine if they let Baltika 9 Strong lose in the bars in Thailand, at a reasonable price, even for the Thai's. biggrin.png

You can still buy 'Special brew' in HK & Sing, also Kessie super can be found

I'm generally with Eezergood regarding these flavoured beers. Seem to remember a British bitter brewed with coriander that was interesting but I like proper beer. Exceptions include kriek, framboise and other Belgian fruit beers. I think the fruit infusion works with the Belgian lambic style more than the English ale style of beer. Never tried a Belgian honey beer as far as I know. May give that one a try.

"Never tried a Belgian honey beer as far as I know." - your comment got me thinking. It's been a long time since I have had a pint of mead. Does anyone know if it's available on Phuket?

I know the Mikkeller bar and bistro in Bkk serve mead, but I have yet to come across it in Phuket.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when next in Bangkok.

They have a very basic webpage. It only really has their location. What's the place like?

http://www.mikkellerbangkok.com/

It's a nice bungalow in an upmarket area. Not easy to find though. It has a trendy and hip clientele. They have about 30 beers on tap, with some insanely strong ones which are 15% to 18% abv. They have some guest taps as well, but there are no Changs, Tigers or Leos.

Check out their Facebook page. It has a lot more info.

News! Villa Market in Chalong is now offering Henry's IPA from Wadworth. It can be found in the "fridge". It is a very mild IPA. Don't expect American hops and lots of alcohol. This is a classic English IPA, but with a low abv even for an English IPA. It's less than 4%. I like it though, but that is not really a useful fact.

Anyone been in this place lately?

http://fullmoonbrewwork.com/

Last sunday - pretty good overall, but not totally 100% authentic and the beers can be a bit yeasty

Been a couple of years since I have sampled the beer and bar food. Would give both the thumbs up. Now that you have given me the idea I must go back very soon.

You guys are killing me with your first-world problems. I am in the sticks of Songkhla now and the only options are Leo, Chang and (reduced bottle size) Singha. It's even hard to find Heineken. It's a real beer nightmare.

Log on to www.wishbeer.com which offers more than 300 different beers from UK, US, Belgium, Japan, Denmark, Norway etc. Prices are quite similar to supermarkets and if your order is more than 2000bht they will send for free. I have ordered from them several times and I was very happy. Beers are packed and handled well and arrive in time. UK breweries such as Fuller's, Well's, Young's, Courage, Whychwood are represented.
