Stokakrishna
My Non-B visa expired last friday (on 21st of june). I've been in thailand on non-b visa since 2008 and this is the first time i'm overstaying it. My work permit is valid till 30th of june. My question is: Can i just go the border, pay the fine for overstaying my visa and leave Thailand? I want to go to Laos and apply for tourist visa? Is it that simple? or ar ethere any things i should be aware of, or have any additional documents?
lopburi3
There is a slight chance of a police check finding you are overstay and that might result in a night in jail and facing a judge (although fine is likely to be the same or less). Always best to leave by air when on overstay. But land exit risk is quite small. Getting a tourist visa should not be a problem.
ubonjoe
You should leave as soon as possible. You don't have to wait for your work permit to expire. Your employer should of canceled it already in fact.

lopburi3
As said the chance is slight but it is always there when overstay - and heading to borders can increase that chance a bit. But it is very small as they do not seem to be targeting travelers as they have at times in the past.
