lemoncake
Just the other day came across the offer from TOT of IPTV I am not too savvy about this things, but from what i understand, its a box which streams channels via internet. I have tried to Google IPTV Thailand but the results are somewhat disappointing- some websites have been suspended and others do not give much info. So.... does anyone have an idea or is using one to explain little better.? I believe TOT is offering it for 599 per month, but must have their internet, is there another choice where i only buy the box and keep on using my internet? The choice of channels through TOT is pretty big, but all are pretty useless as it seems. Is there a company or an option to chose channels? i am interested in music, movies and shows, Any links or advice much appreciated PS. do note its not a dreambox and does not require a satellite.. PPS. for those who want to know as much as i do now, just visit TOT shop, they have a display there(crystal clear image, excellent sound)
joncl
ToT's service is in 720p HD for most channels and indeed a very nice IPTV package - well done ToT
worgeordie
Or you could get CTH with the same channels, plus a lot more, for a little more Bht, and does not rely on iffy Internet service. regards Worgeordie
Popular Post TwentyBaht
lemoncake, Will offer a bit of personal observation about the IPTV stuff; Most Thai ISP will yield good picture quality from IPTV servers within Thailand. TOT, an example of this. As, joncl says. International based servers may yield freezing and/or require a player with buffering capability. How to test your internet for IPTV? Well, install the VLC player on your computer. Get it here; http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html Open the program and go to Media/Open Network Streams. A window will open. Ready for a URL. Now, you need some streams to test. Go here; http://www.tvonlinestreams.com/news/thai/1-0-49 Listed are streams available in Thailand. Most Thai tv channels are listed. And, sometimes, TOT IPTV streams are listed. And, a page for VLC test streams. (Sometimes, this site is down. Being, updated. Usually, back up in a short time. And, be aware that the VLC test streams page are without much info, as to content. An offensive test stream may crop up occasionally.) http://banok.myfreeforum.org/ftopic6-60.php International streams listed on this site. Many genre. And, as you do more Google search, you will see more websites that catalog streaming URL. So, just find a stream, copy it, paste it into the VLC window. Click Play. And, be patient. Sometimes, you have to wait a little. You will now get an idea about IPTV. Content from foreign servers will often experience freezing. And, require buffering. That said, a Sopcast player will sometimes work well with foreign streams. Thai based servers will be okay. But, English speakers will sometimes be at a disadvantage. Because, of now, many of the Thai server IPTV streams are Thai dubbed only. (Just a note about copying a stream URL from the internet. Paste it first into Notepad. Check it. Sometimes, there is an extra space or two at the end of the URL. Recopy the URL. And, then paste into the VLC window.) It's a bit of fun to try these streams. Interesting programming, from around the world. Just be patient with it. IPTV for the masses is in its infancy. Cheers

joncl
and then there are CDN feeds right to our doorstep here in Thailand .. Wiki CDN here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network which like local IPTV providers, are just fine if not better in some cases than the local providers ... Ended up paying for the full version that allows you to download movies to your Iphone/Ipad via Wi-fi link. Thanks for the heads up phetphet.. Digitalbanana
> So.... does anyone have an idea or is using one to explain little better.? > I believe TOT is offering it for 599 per month, We have one in our home. Details of packages are on http://www.totiptv.com/ and you can note their is virtually no English language stuff on the free package. (Ours does seem to offer Star TV HD as a freebie FWIW, maybe it'll be turned off later?) I have no complaints about the free service, as we need the internet access anyway which is reliable sitting on 10mpbs mostly. The Thais can watch as much Thai IPTV as they like and I can use my computer on the net elsewhere as alluded to in the very fine posts above. David Barker
We have had IPTV working in our house in Hua Hin for over a year started with 18 channells of UK TV now have about 40 using True ADSL for the feed works fine. If you want to know if your connection is up to it for UK TV Google BBC Diagnostics as that test is testing between where you are and UK where it comes from after test scroll down and it will tell you what your connection is good for i.e. radio, std TV, HD TV etc. It is being launched here in September and I am told they will be sponsoring on Thaivisa. PM me for more details
