Another one for Krabi is PAN Guest House, in Krabi town. Very nice people with basic, rustic bungalows (including private bathroom with all the hot water you want!) and cheap rents. They never charged any extra for our dog, and we stayed with them many time for up to two weeks at a time.

I've been to several resorts in Muak Lek and Nakon Nayok. We were never turned down for having dogs. The area is great because most resorts back on to nice creeks where dogs can swim.

Best if you can get there thru the week, as you'll generally have the whole place to yourselves. The prices go up on weekends and I wouldn't be surprised if they refused dogs then.

I am headed to Bangkok on Sunday and are having difficulty finding a hotel which I can have my dog and cat. I fell in love with Thailand and am moving my life there. :o So...we have to find a hotel while we find a home. Any pointers on where to find a hotel which we can pay to let us have our animals with us is greatly appreciated.

BANGKOK

"Oakwood Residences"

spacer.gif 291 Soi Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra 24, New Sathorn Road, Chongnonsee | Bangkok, Thailand | + (66-2) 672-0200

http://www.oakwood.com/corporate-apartment...owPolicies.html

I had great difficulty finding a place in Bangkok that would accept a dog as big as mine (Giant Schnauzer, weighs 60lbs/27kg). Most of the "pet-friendly" hotel finding websites list the same hotels, and most of the hotels do not accept animals weighing more than 11lbs/5kg... my cat is heavier than that! Most 'pet-friendly hotel finding websites' have a customer service hotline, call the website hotline and have them do the leg work for you, in most cases they have easy access to the pet regulations data for each hotel. Once you find the hotel you want, invest in an international call, and call to confirm that your pet meets the hotel requirements.

Here is Oakwood's pet policy:

  • Two pet maximum per unit (one canine and one feline).
  • Maximum weight limit 75 lbs.
  • All canines/felines must be spayed or neutered.
  • All inoculations must be current, proof must be supplied.
  • All canines must be licensed and must wear collar and current ID tags.
  • Owners must provide litter box for felines.
  • Canine breed restrictions apply.

I've been at Oakwood a week now, and it's been great. I've met 4 other doggies staying at the hotel so far. They have a run of grass & potted plants on the side of the hotel, plus a grassy garden in front which you are allowed to use for your pet's potty breaks. And the longer you stay, the cheaper the nightly rate. I'm booked for several weeks, and the nightly rate is half of what is listed on the website.

If you are going to Phuket, you might like to give CC Blooms (076-333-222 or 07-333-223) a try. I stayed there with my bulldog over Christmas and the was wonderful. Everyone was really friendly and helpful.

Taking a pet around Thailand usually involves staying in a really basic hotel room(no internet, a hard to operate water heater, a slightly uncomfortable bed), it is such a relief to find somewhere with all the comforts of home (wireless internet, DVD player, a small pantry, etc).

Here's a picture I took of the place...

... and here's my dog is under the bench in front of our room waiting to go to the beach.

Pets Allowed in Ayutthaya Garden Hut

http://www.ayutthayagardenhut.com/index.php

This very nice, quiet, friendly resort is made of 5 clean, new Bungalows having each Air Conditioning and ceramic bathroom where you can let your pets sleep at night. The owners accept dogs and cats. The owners are dog lovers, having about 4 dogs of their own living in a separate garden next to the resort. You can have your dogs roam in the garden and play freely if you wish so. The price is very reasonable (800 - 1,000 Bahts per night). It is very near the city center and yet totally quiet and isolated. The owners do not speak English, so as a friend to call them if you want information (H/P: 081 780 28 73). Highly recommend this place for a week end break and peaceful relaxation.

Pets allowed in Chiang Dao Nest resort

http://www.chiangdao.com/nest/

This resort, about 60 km from Chiang Mai, is ideally located in the mountain, surrounded by big bamboo trees and beautiful view. THey allow small pets (dogs and cats) but the owners have two cats roaming freely in the big garden. It is a beautiful place to relax and feel regenerated. The Ratan bungalows are very nice, clean and very well maintained. The rates are cheap (500 to 700 per night depending on season) and the food excellent. There are two Chiang Dao Nest resort. The Nest 2 is the most recent where they serve Thai food. The first one, much better located with big trees in the middle of the garden, serve Western food only. The food is absolutely delicious but not cheap, count about 400 bahts minimum per person per lunch or dinner, but the quality and taste is really surprising and worth trying. Highly recommand it.
