Popular Post NoshowJones
I got this from the thread about Farangs who wear wigs. Is there any other expat here in Thailand who never wears shorts? Am I the only one? Every one who reads this is going to give me pelters, but I always say what I think. Shorts on any male adult is absolutely hideous looking, unless for playing sports. It doesn't matter if you have fat or skinny legs or in between. Shorts are hideous looking. I'm away to take cover. OUCH.

NoshowJones
No, I wear jeans out in public and save the shorts for home and the beach. I should have mentioned home and the beach, as well as playing sports.
Popular Post theblether
I wear shorts of a day time, and try to always wear longs of a night time. I accept that I'll not win any sartorial awards but if that's the price to pay for not getting heatstroke I'll accept it. Just sayin'

I get irritated of an evening when I'm in a restaurant and I see other farangs walk in wearing beachwear. Thais love people looking smart, and age is no barrier to that. I often see immaculately dressed farang gents in their 60's and 70's of an evening here in Chiang Mai. they look great to me.
Popular Post I knew this would happen
I always wear jeans and a polo together with sneakers. If i´d walk around with flip flops, muscle shirt and shorts i´d feel "strange". Shorts only at the beach or around the house when i mow the lawn, wash the car. And most places like restaurants, cinemas and some malls are just too cold anyway if i don´t wear proper clothes, actaully i´m freezing then. And i can´t drive well with flip flops too, tried it once and then never again. Edited September 11, 2013 by I knew this would happen

ToddWeston
I seldom wear shorts in public, of course on the beach or yard work but I've never been a fan of them and I see all sorts at all times wearing them here. I wouldn't be caught dead in them in the evening in public here or home. Now the follow up thread can be do you wear flip flops with your trousers here - I'll admit I sometimes do as those pesky anklet socks are a pain and most of my shoes are heavy.

Popular Post GirlDrinkDrunk
i wear shorts constantly, but then i rid a minimum of 20km daily and run almost all of my errands on a bicycle on top of that. I had 30k in today before 10 am when evening rolls around, on go the jeans. personally i could not care less what others wear, as long as they wear something. I have no desire to see geriatric junk while out and about. i think more on here should worry about the quality of their own existence rather than finding offence around every corner. Popular Post mooris7
I also never wear shorts and agree with the op. Those foreigners that hang around with baggy shorts and sandals all day on Sukumvit road don't look too nice.

Popular Post ghworker2010
OP sounds a little neurotic. The fact is that the climate in LOS is very humid. What kind of idiot is going to walk around in jeans in this humidity? To answer the question specifically, the only farang that does not wear shorts in LOS would have to be those from India. Even if you travel to India you will rarely see an Indian guy in shorts. I dont know how they can do it...
dvdlock
I only wear shorts at the beach, the pool or at home. Out in public its at least jeans and a shirt or polo with proper footwear. I really don't like seeing farangs in supermarkets, malls or other urban public areas wearing shorts, scruffy T-shirt and flip flops, especially when they have their hairy sweaty armpits on display each time they reach out.

Popular Post Mooner
Daytime 36 degrees with no work or anything formal. Why would you not wear shorts? I personally find it ridiculous when i see a Farang with jeans, a shirt and shoes on in the midday sun. You cant tell me they are not melting inside. Even worse, some expats who claim to be cold when there is a slight breeze. Shorts, a shirt and the right footwear can be smart if you know how to dress. I do get the OP's point though. Many a Farang dressed in shorts, with socks and Jesus sandals.. no, no, no!! Also men really shouldnt wear vests, maybe its ok when your under 30, not when your 50!
Popular Post WitawatWatawit
Sneaked into the office one day to get something I left behind. A Brit woman colleague spotted me in my shorts and said "ooh, nice knees." I've never stopped wearing shorts since. But it's a case of "nice knees, shame about the boat race". If anyone remembers that song.

Popular Post cpofc
Shorts on any adult male is hideous? But not hideous if in involved in sport or going to the beach. How does military uniform stack up I wonder? The topic went from simply wearing shorts, to the wearing of singlets, thongs, underwear and what constitutes looking like homeless alcoholic. All because you wear shorts. Most sensible, smart, people use their discretion and dress for the climate, and the occasion. Mad dogs and englishmen..... and fashonista poonces
