farangnoi Posted April 21, 2006 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Yesterday we bought a washing-machine, but in ""our house"there is nothing such as grounding for it. doesanybody has some experience with this or how to ground it?? In most "western country's" it's regulated that every wet-room(eg. bathrooms) has to be grounded in case of a shortcut or hazard. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If so the plug should ground it (with an adapter if round/two pin type with metal strip on both sides common now). The adapters can be found in HomePro and probably other places or a new three pin plug installed. If your home does not have grounded electric outlets you need to install a ground stake and run a wire from the washer ground point to it. If you have a point of use water heater in your bathroom it must have a ground wire so you may be able to trace that to find a good ground. If you have a heater without a ground do pay someone to install one. Adding to lopburi's reply, the stake can be a 1.5m to 2m copper rod that you buy at your local hardware shop. Drive it in to ground that will always be damp (mine is near a run-off from a kitchen sink) and connect to that.
