ESCAPIS 40
Has anyone come across Butternut Squash in Thailand? If so, what should I ask for in Thai? Sent from an Apple gadget.
itchybum 799
Is that same as butternut pumpkin ?
ESCAPIS 40
The pumpkin is round, the butternut is pear shaped. They might be the same, I am not familiar with either, in fact. Your opinion would help a great deal though. Sent from an Apple gadget.
itchybum 799
Just googled it...yes it is and yes seen it a lot. Saw it in Villa the other day, but outragiously priced as with everything else in that shop, something like 4/500b a kilo I buy it where we live for around 80/90b a kilo. AyG 2,886
It's usually available at Gourmet Market. However, they are somewhat smaller than the ones I'm used to in Europe (and quite a bit more expensive).

Konini 2,019
On occasions like this, the smart phone is worth it's weight in gold. They do say a picture is worth a thousand words. The butcher's pictures of different cuts of beef and pork are especially invaluable to point at and grin wildly. I've even googled took screen-shots of Thai script when things look similar. On topic, I don't recall seeing them on local markets, only in the supermarkets so assume they aren't grown locally.
