transam 50,119
Always a good idea to mutilate your newborn child Hello son, your mom and I have decided that millions of years of evolution was wrong, but fortunately some guy on a cloud none of us have ever met or seen came to the rescue, and helped us decide which bodyparts you should keep and which you shouldn't. And no, when it comes to operating your child, based on anything other than health issues as recommended by a doctor, parents wishes should not be respected - at all. Fortunately more and more countries in the EU are banning circumcision. Which countries have specifically banned all non-medically necessary circumcisions? I am very skeptical. You are saying some countries make it illegal for Jews and Muslims to follow their religions? Really? It's illegal for a religion to kill women and children but they do. Nothing stopping them following their religions, just as there is nothing stopping them getting on a plane and flying to whichever country allows the practice, then flying back to wherever. Jingthing 71,185
You missed the point. A poster asserted that circumcision was illegal in some European countries. I am skeptical. I'd like to see a list. That's all.

Like you I would like to see a list, nice to know there are progressive countries around these days who wont be held to ransom by religious nut jobs.
bigbamboo 8,663
I wonder who it was who first had the bright idea to tamper with nature in this way. Maybe the same person who came up with body piercing?

Jingthing 71,185
I wonder who it was who first had the bright idea to tamper with nature in this way. Maybe the same person who came up with body piercing? It is found in a number of tribal cultures. It's not only a Jewish/Muslim thing in origin. Given that there are health benefits to this the ancients may have been wiser than many are willing to give them credit for. Edited October 14, 2013 by Jingthing
bina 416
jingthing relax... btw, in case anyone really wants to know: when my son had his brit (bris for all you ashkenazi jews in the states), we were yelled at by the mohel (ritual circumcisor who, btw, goes thru professional courses as well sa being a religious figure) because we were heathen kibbutzniks (what is eliahu's chair? why do we need a box of sand? (to bury the foreskin so that when teh messiah returns and we rise form the dead, we will have all our missing parts, indluding the foreskin)... (which is why organ donors here are a problematic thing but thats a nuther story). circumscision si aobut like piercing your daughter's ears for earrings (potential allergenics and also cysts in teh earlobe) and yet noone makes a fuss about it ... there are worse things in life that people do to their kids then snip a bit of skin at 8 days old, and here, nowadays, painkiller cream is used, acamol is administerd and medical followup os very good - we have quite a few brits every year since we have a high birht count here on my kibbutz. some parents elect to do the snip ina hospital and then the brit party at a later time , others are more traditional or have traditional grandparents, so do the whole thing. btw, this is when a child gets a 'godfather', so that if something were to happen to parents (i.e. father) then there will be a provider for him. jing did u know that??? its common here as well... downtown 28
no doubt the girls living in ol' blighty love getting carted back to the mother land for a nice bit of female gentilation mutilation. as for banning in the eu, particularly england, i very much doubt it. look at the two bearded boys attending a catholic???school who were banned for breaking the school rules and initialy told they wouldnt be back until they lost the beards. lo and behold they are now back there, beards intact as in specific cultural instances its ok.... this is fine by me provided girls can wear lippy, emos their eye liner and so

Puccini 706
Whereas, you want your boy to become a porn star, ...how many uncut knobs do you see in porn flicks ? ... and whereas, the porn industry is an industry with high endemic rates of HIV, ...As for justifying this procedure then you need to ask 'The World Health Organisation' and 'UNAIDS' who recommend circumcision as part of a comprehensive program for prevention of HIV transmission in areas with high endemic rates of HIV... now therefore, go forth and have your boy circumcised. Don't forget to leave a tip. Edited May 30, 2017 by sinbin
