Popular Post luckyluke
By this way I wish to thank again the gentleman, who is maybe a poster here, who helped me yesterday noon at Friendship from a totally unpleasant situation.I was doing my shopping, bought a lot of things, went to the checkout, everything was registered when I found out I forgot my wallet. I told the cashier-lady that I was terribly sorry, but that I couldn't pay, grumbling she took everything out of my bag and then start to argue that I had to pay the vegetables I bought at the salad-bar, I told her politely that I wish I could pay everything but that I had no money, she continued to quarrel, I was totally miffed, everybody was looking in my direction, a gentleman in the next row came to her, asking how much was the vegetables and paid. I thanked him time and again, told him the vegetables was now his, but he told me he doesn't eat salads. So I left with the vegetables, and happily surprised that, here, in Pattaya there is still, at least, one gentleman.

OMGImInPattaya
Never heard of this scam yet...I'll have to try it sometime as I like both salads and free. Just kidding...I too know this can happen as I've done it a few times...frustrating as hell.

JSixpack
Kudos to the gent. Why didn't you leave the groceries in a shopping cart inside, tell the staff not to bother it, then go get your wallet and come back?
luckyluke
^ Right, seemed to be the most proper solution. I thought about this later, but unfortunately not at the very moment, and so wasn't the cashier and the nice gentleman.
Popular Post Gsxrnz
I've been on both sides of a similar situation. Gives you a warm feeling whether you're the receiver or the giver. Lucky Luke - I'm sure you won't forget to repay that RAK (Random Act of Kindness) by doing a similar act of kindness to somebody else in the near future. It's in the rules. Basil B
I presume we all have gone shopping more than once only to find out we have left our wallets at home when we get to the check outs, it could have been worse, just imagine you just fueled up a car at the gas station. Question for everybody, you are on a Baht Bus, someone gets off only to find they have no money, they are arguing with driver, the bus is not going anywhere until they pay, they can not pay, would you donate 10B just to get to your destination without too much delay? Absolutely yes ..... but I would want them to hand their passport or ID over to me - to be returned when they pay me back the 10 baht.
Blueeyes1999uk
Pay it forward. Had an experience here when I ran out of petrol (my fault) and someone came to my aid - my stupidity (good lesson learned) have tried to repay both for Westerners and Thai ever since.
