Thai Watsadu building materials superstore opens in Phuket

PHUKET: -- Builders and repairmen can now stop running around Phuket town to find equipment and materials, with the opening of the huge Thai Watsadu store, which sells everything for the home, from shower heads to roof beams.

The store, opposite with Srisupphaluck Orchid cashew store just north of the Heroines Monument, is open every day from 7:30 am to 7 pm.

Big orders get extras. “We have free shipping for the first 10 km for orders of more than B25,000 in general, though for the heavy volume orders such as roofing, the price needs to be over B30,000 to get the free shipping,” said Kanjana Reungdam, the store’s customer service officer.

After the first 10 km, the shipping fee is B10 per km.

The store is offering three types of membership cards. The first card, which is red, is for “VIP” customers. The second (blue) is for contractors, while the third is gold, and is for retail stores.

All are free. Customers who want to get membership need to bring copies of their ID card. For blue cards, they should also bring a copy of their work licence, and gold card applicants should bring a copy of their commercial registration certificate.

Card holders receive points for purchases – one point for every B20. When they reach 20 points, they can exchange the points for a cash coupon worth B100 – the equivalent of a 25-per-cent discount.

Thai Watsadu, which has branches in 25 cities, is a member of the Central Group. The company’s website is here (Thai only). The telephone number is 076-601300.

great they should have built it in Essan as for most of the people on the south of the island that is a long ways away and with a government of genius's that decided to FIX the traffic problem at Central intersection is always jammed up there the government never thought of trying to serve the public instead of having the crews work 24 hours a day 7 days a week and help people here, no were dragging it out for years ... man what smart people .... also they are putting it underground so when it floods here and the power is out(pumps won't work) in big rain storms car can drive in there and break down in the flooding .. heh we don't want to build above the ground as that might makes things better for people .. lucky for us this government is so smart .. thus this store is way to far away for most of us ..

Perfect location - stop moaning!

Yes excellent location, even better would have been the building where now still Phuket Gateway is, just across the bridge. Please don't forget Phuket is not like St. Helena an island all alone in the middle of the ocean, part of the stuff bought in that store. will surely find its way to Khao Lak and maybe even Krabi.

We tried that location; couldn't get permits for the size of site we needed. Stores in this phase are 23,000sqm + on sites around 26-30,000sq m, and Phuket wouldn't grant us one in that location.

^^^I'm willing to pay a bit more if they have everything I need, and they don't follow me around.

The Mrs and I were there this morning. No one followed us around, but plenty of employees ready and willing to help. Staff was knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. Overall it was a very good experience. It’s huge. Reminded me of Eagle Hardware back home.

Hope their huge roof does not collapse like another one of their stores did. Did they use their own steel in the construction? Homeowners please note that you get what you pay for. Lower prices=inferior products. No return policy for ANY DEFECTIVE tools whatsoever, even if returned same day, mint condition, with receipt & without usage.

I have been there three times and each time could not find what I wanted - absolutely hated it, Walked around and around and around ... probably a mile and could not find a simple twist type hose sprayer, only the trigger type. No thick silicon or latex sheet padding of any kind. It was suggested I buy instead a styrofoam cooler that was about 30% more than at 7-11.

And none of the little plastic clips that hold on ceiling lamp covers.

Than could not even quench my thirst as the cafe closes after lunch.

I go north just up the street to the smaller place, can't remember the name and they had all three items and a free water cooler

Watsadu SUCKS

I have to agree with you. Been in a Watsadu 3 times, and there will be no 4th time, and couldn't find what I needed or it was way over priced compared with the competition.

A Sanki 7' ladder is 2890 Baht at Watsadu here, while 10 km away at hardware house the very same ladder is 1800 Baht. ( regular price)

Last time I went there I needed some fittings for 3/4"blue water pipe. However they sell the 3/4" pipe, they don't have a single fitting in that size.

Size 3/4" fittings, be it elbow or T junction or whatever, are simply not in their assortment. So how does one work with the 3/4"pipe they buy from them ?

By the way I'm talking about the branches on the Eastern Seaboard.

I am a major investor in Thai Watsadu Phuket :)

I am usually in their store every day, so regularly that they have allocated me a personal shopping assistant.

Apart from the NYY cable, I can usually find something that I'm after.

So this is how it works! I have a long ago lost count of your guesthouses and ex-wives. Somehow I thought the process is: You build a new guest house, get married, divorce and your ex stays to manage the guesthouse.

Now Thai Watsadu provides both the guesthouse building materials as well as the future MrsSimon43. That is exceptionally good service!

just north of the Heroines Monument

I suppose land in the south was too expensive for them.

No way will I make the trip from south Rawai for stuff I can probably get at several places down here, more expensive in cash terms but less expensive in health terms.

I am looking for Dremmel tool attachments. If anyone sees any there please let me know. That is wayyyyyy too far for me.

Bangkok Hardware, Sam Kong?

Have a look at time index 0:22 near the bottom of the wall... looks like a "Dremel" logo:
