RadKiter
Yellow shirt morons screwing themselves and their Thai brothers and sisters all to protest AGAINST democracy! Can these people get any dumber? Why yes, I think they could. They could for instance abandon their principles and turn their support to a political party committed to corruption, populism, and amnesty for convicted criminals hiding abroad with bundles of loot & delusions of grandeur ('that your definition of "democracy" BTW?). What principals? They are all corrupt and yes, the vast majority has voted the current clowns in in landslides for the past 18 years. Yes, that is democracy. Work with it ;-) Sent from my SCH-I535 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

And no, it's not really democracy. Just populist vote-buying by the pigs at the trough. And no, 2010 wasn't a landslide (though you hear the Shin-rouge cult spewing that a lot). The popular PTP vote wasn't even a majority. Stop repeating the party lines and do a little thinking. The facts and p-r-I-n-c-I-p-l-e-s will become clear. ;-)

Chao Lao Beach
I wonder how many Japanese come by tours instead of self travel though ?
Robininbkk
If all sex tours to The land of smiles are cancelled its goodnight Thai economy. Theres not all that much else here. ------------------ Pure nonsense...... Industries in Thailand that export products made in Thailand (even if they are Japanese cars) are a far greater proportion of the real Thai economy than tourism actually is. Only a small percentage of the Thai economy actually depends directly on Tourism, and only a small part of that actually trickles down to the street level Thai worker. It may have been true 30 or 40 years ago that tourism was a major player in the Thai economy, but that has changed now. When I worked in Greece on the island of Crete I used to shop in a large Greek supermarket chain. I remember they sold canned Tuna there. That Tuna was packed in Thailand at a packing plant just outside of Bangkok and it said so on the label. I won't give you the name, but it was a major international brand name well known all over Europe and the U.S. also. Just last week there was an article in an English language Thai newspaper about the large investment that Ford Motor Company was making in Thailand where their cars would be assembled. And actually, "packaged sex tours" are only a minor part of the Japanese tourist traffic anyhow. This is 2014, not 1980, and the Thai economy has changed drastically since then. Times have changed, my friend. (The first time I came to Thailand was in 1977, and I can remember the illustrated Japanese books with the girl's photos in the massage parlors for Japanese tourists back then.) No more. Are you serious? I think jalansanitwong's post was just a punch-line... As FYI, Packaged sex tours are a minor part of Japanese tourist traffic? How'd you figured? How many Japanese do you see walking around the temples? And how many Japanese do you see walking around and in the agogo bars and massage salons on Sukhumvit and Silom?... right. There is a whole industry in Japan specialising sex package tours around SEA countries, especially in Thailand, philipines and mainland Southern China. VegasVic
I have seen lots of scintillating and crystal clear waters in Thailand. Admittedly, they were nowhere near pattaya, jomtien, patong, etc. I remember taking a half day snorkeling trip from Koh Chang, on some of the little islands we visited, one could see clearly to the bottom, in 20-30 feet of water. The water was teeming with fish as well. Also, on a day trip from phuket, to some little island just off the south tip, the water was stunning, the beach was clean and pure white sand. The bottom was covered with healthy corals, with thousands of beautiful little fish swimming around. One must get away from the centers of sleaze and sex tourism to see these beautiful places. Alfalfa, I couldn't agree more, especially about Koh Chang and the many islands nearby, it is an absolute tropical paradise with pristine beaches and crystal clear waters in multiple shades of blue perfect for snorkeling or scuba No matter which direction one travels in Thailand there is beauty and wonderment, in the north the countryside outside of Chiang Mai-Chianf Rai-Mae hong song is amazing or in the far east outside of Ubon where there are breathtaking waterfalls to be visited. You will have a problem in trying to explain this to a degenerate sexpat whos tunnel vision only sees Thailand as soi cowby in Bangkok, walking street in Pattaya , and patong beach in phuket, since their life revolves soley around getting drunk and getting laid, these types never seem to be able to age emotionally or mentally beyond that of a 18 year old

Tourism, which has always been very important to the overall Thai economy at the margin, is likely more important exponentially at the moment than it ever has been and these trip cancellations by Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Europoeans ect. will likely have a much larger impact on the overall economy than it normally would
ttthailand
I think what some people fail to recognize is that even a few % drop in any sector is major. 3 or 4 percent in GDP is devastating.
