Where to buy HIV treatment drugs in Thailand?

Recommended Posts

I am a Chinese and now live in southwest of China, which is borders with Myanmar and Vietnam.I was infected with HIV and now I‘m receiving free treatment of China's CDC.A friend of mine is working in Thailand and he told me that he can buy the drug for me from Thailand.I’m thinking go to Thailand in April or May this year to meet my friend to buy three in one drugs. So I would like to know what public or private hospital I can go and buy such three in one drugs.

And I am 28.I want to find a girl-friend from Thailand that we can look after to each other and marry if we both think it's fine. She should be an infected woman with the age under 30.Does anybody would like to marry me or anyone know such women please let me know.

The reason I want to choose a Thailand girl is that I like Thailand people and I know someday I can travel over Thailand. My family members like Thailand too. They don't mind my public identity(as a hiv carrier )in Thailand but they mind if that happens in China.I'm not sure if I made myself understood.I urge the moderators do not delete this post.Thank you very much.

p.s. My name is Kevin and I can speak English and Chinese.I learned Thai language in two years at my university but frankly I can't speak or understand complex sentences.I lose my job as a court prosecutor after my boss known my illness. So now my mom and I run a hostel in our house. We are happy and living a middle-class life.

Hello Kevin.

You will not be able to buy "HIV" medication in Thailand without a Thai doctors prescription.

I would suggest you have faith in your Chinese doctors and continue with the treatment they suggest.

I know what you mean.I read some articals on the internet and know that drugs in Thailand is fewer side effects compared with in which free offered in China.I feel like vomiting every time I took the medicine but my doctor can't do anything to help me.She just suggests me to take some antiemetics.I did but it doesn't seem much effective.

A Thai doctor's prescription is not a problem. I can accept antibody detection again in Thai hospital,as well a medical inspection.I just need a better health care to prolong my life.Anyway, your reply is helpful to me.Thank you again!

Kevin, i really feel for you dealing with this and its terrible that you lost your job.
Why not try contacting the Red Cross in THailand.
They should be able to help you, or at least give you better information.

The least expensive source of these drugs is the Thai Red Cross Anonymous Clinic; this is also the least expensive source for viral load/CD4 tests etc. You will need a doctor's prescription first. See this thread for some recommended doctors and address/location of the Thai Red Cross Clinic:

In China, the HIV infected person is not allowed to work for public.

Contacting with the Red Cross is an good idea.I will try it later.

It surprise me that you need a prescription.....is it true?

You can buy the craziest things, painkiller, valium, viagra, antibiotics, all the hormones and steroids freely without prescription but not HIV medication.

Really? (I never tried, but it surprise me and doesn't seem logic).

While antibiotics and many other drugs that would need a script in the west are OTC in Thailand, you cannot legally buy valium or viagra without a prescription. In fact it is seriously illegal to do so.

And yes, HIV meds are prescription only. And pretty strictly controlled. The MoPH is rightfully concerned about the problem of drug resistance.

But they are OK I forgot that I am in Thailand....

I didn't thought for the drug resistance...but I should have as it is a well known problem, specially as some people are on and off the medication....

I don't want to further hijack that topic sorry.gif.pagespeed.ce.HIAcli9fRM.png

This is not entirelly correct: it doesn't have to be à Thai physiciian.

Also the OP seems to be willing to buy a particular drug. I am quite sure that not all drugs are fit for everyone and it also depends on which therapy he currently ( withstanding blood and other tests )

Actually I am not sure if the TRC will accept a script from a doctor out of country or not, has anyone tried this?
