Jai Dee
Surat Thani bears more rambutan and longong this year Surat Thani produces less mangosteen and durian but more rambutan and longong this year. Provincial commerce chief Sompong On-prasert (สมพงศ์ อ่อนประเสริฐ) said Surat Thani’s total fruit output this year was expected to decrease by 4,500 tons, or 5.1%, from that of last year. Rambutan and longong output, however, will increase compared to that of 2005. Rambutan production, in particular, will grow by 7,106 tons or 22.23% because it has received enough amount of rainwater, Mr. Sompong said. He said the fruits will still be sold at good prices because demand from overseas is huge, particularly in China.
