Jai Dee Posted June 2, 2006 Share Posted June 2, 2006 The Water Resources Department to build 407 weirs in the North The Water Resources Department will ask for 73 million baht from the government for the construction of 407 weirs in watershed areas in some northern provinces. Department chief Siripong Hangsapreuk (ศิริพงศ์ หังสพฤกษ์) said the weirs will help slow down the flow of water during the rainy season to prevent flooding and store water in summer time. Mr. Siripong said the construction should be completed in 3 months. The 407 weirs will be built in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Uttaradit, Phrae, Nan, Tak, Sukhothai and Lampang, he said.
