Gun attack at redshirt community radio station

BANGKOK: -- A redshirt community radio station in Lamluka district of Pathumthani province came under gun attack last night but nobody was injured.

Only a pickup truck parked at the station was slightly damaged when a gunshot pierced through its rear windshield.

Lamluka police said they were alerted by Mr Arthit Muangkerntoi, 48, the operator of the 105.25 MHz Mahachon Kon Rak Prachathipatai community radio station at about 7.30 p.m. that two men riding on a motorcycle fired several shots at his station and fled.

He also said the motorcycle gunmen were escorted by a pickup truck.
The brief gunshot caused a bullet hole on the rear windshield of his pickup truck.

Police inspected the scene last night found more than twenty 9 m.m. spent shell casings on the road in front of the station.

Arthit told police his station did not belong to hardcore redshirt leader Ko Tee as many believed and also did not broadcast any news of political conflict.

The attack might be from misunderstanding that the station belongs to Ko Tee, he added.

This is a strange place indeed , community political radio stations , spreading the good word, for a fairer spread these all should be all shut down ,licences revoked, they serve no purpose except to spew out garbage on either parties, radio like TV medium are there to entertain , not give biased opinions.bah.gif

It was only a "brief gunshot"....as opposed to a long gunshot......hence no damage.....

These shooters must be the worst there are.....they can't aim the M79.....can't shoot AK47 with any accuracy.....anything more that 10 metres and they miss completely.....dumb ass wannabe hitmen!

Maybe they don't want to hurt and maim anyone. More a shot over the bow intimidation IMO.

Belonging to Ko Tee or not, such attacks are to be condemned.

BTW, one gunshot and 20 spent shell casings ?

come on, the reds had to make it look like a real attack. Someone was probably playing with his pistol out the front and it went off so they decided to make it look like an attack, these idiots are pathetic, guess no one explained that if you fire off that many rounds more than 1 actually hits something but we all know their mental abiliites are beneath kindy kids.

They found 20 shell casing and only 1 hit in a pickup rear window, sounds like the stars were under attack by a inept crew, who had a couple 9 mm handguns in their possesion. they could not hit their arse with either hand, and they probably had no intention of shooting up a radio station, much less a pickup.

But lets make a non event into a potential political payback, just for grins.

This is the most logical explanation.

Playing with a gun and accidentally shot through the pickup window, so spun it to make it look like an attack on the station by firing another 19 rounds into the air.

Turning a mishap that could bring the police down on them into a nice bit of propaganda.

You could also say that about two TV stations and do not forget that the press in Thailand are not impartial, so close down all the newspapers, including the ones in English. Then you have certain Face Book pages. They should be closed down too. There are also a number of other websites that should be closed dowm. Don't forget the "morning story" from the Puyai Baan - that has to go as well. Now you have censored everything excepty the banal soap operas and the musak stations. I think it would do you good to get out a little more often. You may be surprized to see that for most Thais, life goes on as normal.

I think it was a micro meteorite! Easy to mistake for a bullet. Or possibly a very fast flying mosquito.

If this was politically motivated, then it's sad to see the violence starting to be returned. Until they catch someone, or someone takes responsibility we won't know why, who, or what group if any. Cannot even ignore the possibility that it was Ko Tee because they don't broadcast political news. Saying all that, the chances seem good that it was politically motivated, which is sad.

When a radio diffuse inappropriate program how offense a large of people without action from authorities , some people want to retaliate, simple....

... and those people need to be found, charged, trialed, sentenced and sent to seat in a cell for whatever time it takes for them to learn the wrong of their actions.

You have the army and the gov owning 4 TV stations and you want to shut down neighborhood radio stations? Would you be happier if there were only one station so there could be no dissenting voice? Where are you from, North Korea?

It's so hilarious to read opinion of some TV poster... When is the "other" side, they are violent assassins, when it could be "their" side, is just a cover up of the "other" side.

Hilarious, and pathetic.

Yeah, I love the way seajae invents a 'probable' scenario from thin air that just happens to reinforce his own hatred of the reds. To wit:

"Someone was probably playing with his pistol out the front and it went off so they decided to make it look like an attack, these idiots are pathetic..."

Classic fanatical behavior. There must be a name for this technique - so many frothers from both sides use it. Anyone know what its called?

Ignorance and being stupid. At least in mentioned TV-members case, and a number of more hardcore yellows...

Always hilarious to watch these hardcore Suthep-fanbois trying to come of as intelligent. All they achieve is looking like idiots...

Yea , why can't they have impartial news outlets such as Faux (fox) news, CNN(Central News Nonsense) and BBC (British Bullsh*t Corp)

I shouldn't worry, something along those lines is probably on the list of cuddly old "Khamen Theps" reforms. Except the gunmen will probably be a tad more proficient!

Not give biased opinions?

Then they should shut the nation newspaper down!

Why stop at The Nation ? Almost all Thai media, both Thai and English, have biased opinions and are a source of fueling such thuggery and violence.

The only truth you will find in any newspaper anywhere in the world is the date and the price - everything else is opinion.
