They do have a real excellent menu card and please stop posting your already old Monty traffic light bs. Pretty sad that even in LOS are racist people like you. Popular Post NiwPix
I would like to chime in to this "discussion" and hopefully sort out all confusion / misunderstanding and come back on topic. We are currently working on changing / improving Peppers for the better. There are and will be hick-ups along the road that will get sorted out with time. The menu and layout is still the same as before when John owned Peppers. In the past months we have been working behind the scenes on getting everything done to roll out a perfect menu. There are many things that take into account in getting this done and unfortunately quite a bit of it is out of our hands. We upgraded the kitchen equipment to bring it to our standards ( which took time to find the that equipment ). Then we needed to boost the electricity for the kitchen, so we had to find a GOOD electrician ( please dont laugh...we actually did find one. Yes, we hit the lottery ). However, that took a while. We need to train the cooks and servers about all the new food they have never seen and heard of before. Last but not least, we have to write the menu and have it translated in Thai as well. With all that being said, we were running many different specials over the last ~8 weeks, where somebody may have been here and gotten a different menu card / Specials page than someone that came in a week later. These specials were all things we will put on the menu, but want to familiar the staff with these items and make sure we have the correct tools and china/silverware etc. to actually provide a flawless rollout of the new menu...of the new Peppers. We want to create something for just about all nationalities. Which brings me to my topic....us, the current owners. My dad, Gerhard, spent his entire life/career moving around and learning cuisines of many different countries. He has worked 40+ years at various hotels / restaurants and even had restaurants of his own. Germany, where he was born and raised and learned the old traditional way of cooking. After completing 3 year cooking and baking School he started working and gaining experience in hotels and took the opportunity to work in countries like England, Croatia, Australia, Mexico, France, US and now Thailand...a whole new, fun, interesting experience / adventure. His kids ( me, Julian ), I was born in Germany and shortly after moved to Mexico where I lived for about 2 years. There I learned how to walk and my first language actually is Spanish. My brother Fabian was born in Mexico. After that we moved to the US, California where I went to Pre School and started getting Accustomed to Wonderbread / Peanut Butter and Jelly, Burgers, Pizza etc. Also, my last brother, Uriel was born in California. Then we moved to Colorado and Idaho before moving back to Germany, where me and my brothers got a first and "minor" culture shock and adapted fairly well to it. I stopped playing american football and baseball and started playing soccer/football which I love to this day. Anyways, there we started getting accustomed to traditional German things like Breads, cakes pastries, food, punctuality and quite a few other things...but at the same time were lucky enough to have known a different "world". I for myself always tried to learn and keep the good things I learned from growing up in different countries. What I am getting at, Peppers is NOT a german Restaurant, it is NOT an American Restaurant, it is NOT a Mexican Restaurant, it is NOT a Thai Restaurant. We are working towards building an INTERNATIONAL Restaurant and that each of the different countries dishes will taste as authentic as possible. The Peppers owners have different citizenships, experiences and tastes. We want everyone to be able to come here and find something on the menu they can "connect" with...just like we do and did growing up. And since we are in Thailand and always eager to learn new things, we will obviously have an extensive Thai menu for people who would like to try something new and / or bring in their Thai wives or villages Moose, I am sorry that you had a cold coffee and "a German Burrito". As in any business, sometimes something doesn't work well and is not up to our standards / expectations. We do need everyones help with certain things like when receiving a cold coffee. I would have been happy to get you a fresh cup of hot coffee. I just need to know about it. But also being a place that is specialized in coffees over so many years, we should get it right the fist time...for that I am sorry. The "German Burrito" is a bit tricky to make like we were used to in Mexico and California, but even this minor obstacle we will over come. Beer on tap is not an easy thing to get in Thailand, so we will switch to having a larger variety of bottled beers soon. SirChai, thank you very much for your support and I am glad you enjoyed the food. I am sorry about your uncle in-laws passing, but hope things will getter soon. So, lets please stop this "bread war", "nations war", "good food / bad food war", as every country his their owns tastes and good and things / habits. Let's get back on topic and talk about the foods people miss here, that they enjoyed growing up back home...without insulting the others persons taste / preference. Sorry for the long post, but it was just sad where the topic was heading. Julian Edited May 1, 2014 by NiwPix

Mike45
I've had a few meals recently in Peppers and I can tell you they were excellent. We had the Chicken Cordon Bleu, Snitzel Vienna Style and the spaghetti. We enjoyed each immensely! Those meals and many others including my old standby dessert, carrot cake, are why I continue to go back to Peppers again and again. sirchai
Sirchai, I always thought that you were a pretty decent guy.But on this thread another side of Sirchai has reared it's ugly head. The ARROGANT,IGNORANT, SELF OPINIONATED one. Arrogant, because you have the audacity to call another board member a liar, Ignorant, because you were not there at the same time as he was,so you have no facts to back up your statement, and self opinionated, because you obviously feel that you are the only one with an opinion that is valid, and what anyone else thinks doesn't matter one iota. So because moose's opinion differs from yours that makes him a liar. So flip that around,if your opinion differs from his, then as far as he is concerned that makes you a liar. Shot yourself in the foot there. All he said was that he was served a cold coffee, and was given the old menu to look at. You said that all customers are given the new menu, well you are wrong there, the owner in his last post admitted that some people are still being shown the old menu, because not all the new ones are ready yet. OOps shot yourself in the other foot (hope you have a wheel chair to get around). The main thing is though, will you come on and apologise to "moose" for calling him a liar, when you have no facts to prove this. You started what could have been a really helpful thread for people by stating that evrything at "Peppers"is great. Well I have eaten a variety of pies from there as well as the burger buns and my wife loves the cakes. But I really do not like the european style sliced white bread, because for me it is to sweet, so i can't agree with you that everything is good, so does that make me a liar. Thanks for your truest opinion about me. The thread was just made because I’m happy to have one more place, where people can have some really decent food. I started this thread to let other people know where to go to, as many of us do have huge problems to eat Somtham on daily basis. All in a sudden there’s a post of your friend, stating that there’s still the old menu card, plus the cold coffee story, which wasn't really nice, in my opinion. Your friend did not explain when he posted that he’d gotten a new and fresh and HOT coffee. So moose made me to a liar, by posting a completely different picture of that place. I've got nothing to do with the owners, just met them when I wanted to have a beer at John’s place. Okay, I do apologize if my post seemed to have accused somebody to be a liar, like so many times in life, it wasn't meant to attack somebody. We just had too many days of stress, because my wife’s uncle and good friend of mine just recently passed away. My posts and the daily Buddhist ceremonies might not have been the best mixture, to be honest. Unfortunately it’s over now and life goes on. Let’s just be happy that there’s another oasis in the lower northeastern dessert. Finally, I’ll have my Cordon Bleu in a few hours and hope that a misunderstanding doesn't necessarily create hate. Life’s too short; better to enjoy it before food isn't a topic anymore. Your "white European bread problem" is easily solved, once you try the black German Rye bread from Tops. Good day.-

DreamRider
I also received a cold coffee at Peppers .. TIT There again I ordered a "Gaffair Yen" ... must try and improve my Thai Every time there is a birthday party in the village, only Peppers cakes will do. It's hysterical watching the faces on 4 to 8 year olds utterly disgusted by "local" treats .... put a Peppers cake in front of them ... the plate is clean .... true. Looking forward to the Laab Moo Pizza. I ordered and paid for one when John was there. After 55 minutes of waiting I gave up and went home .. not sure what the problem was there!! Lack of interest from the previous staff methinks. Good luck guys with your venture .. look forward to seeing you soon ...ish

sirchai
Here's what i had yesterday. A Cordon Bleu, made out of pork, as they also offer a chicken version. It comes with a fantastic potato salad, with onions, pieces of cucumbers and real Mayonnaise in it. not the Thai version. I haven't had such a good one in Thailand before. 230 baht, the water i had was free. There're so many other dishes I still have to try, Mexican Burritos, different Lasagna,Pizzas etc.... I was there yesterday, had another delicious schnitzel with potato salad and couldn't even eat all, as i had breakfast this time. ALFREDO
Well, in Pattaya we have lively, witty, fearless and interesting threads and posters on Thaivisa . Unfortunately , the 2 or 3 German restaurants that were here 10 years ago have long gone and most of the food now sucks. Must have been also a change of ownership or management in the iconic BEERGARDEN in Sukhumvit, Soi 7 in Bangkok - iconic, regarding its steady bunch of women waiting there for you and offer their companionship. . The food, international and more German-had a long time German owner, was good and also the portion size was ok. Over last Songkhran I visited again 2 times and the quality of the food is not the same good and the portions, Viennese Schnitzel, Cordon Bleu are now dwarfish small. . The unfriendly and uninterested waitress at one visit, fitted to that negative experience.
