3.4 million Thais to be provided with influenza vaccines



BANGKOK, 29 April 2014 (NNT) – The Public Health Ministry is set to provide free flu vaccines nationwide, starting May 1st.

According to Permanent Secretary for Public Health Dr. Narong Sahametapat, vaccination against influenza viruses will be given to the public at no charge. He said a total of 3.4 million people considered to be most at risk will receive the vaccination.

Risk groups included people over 60 years of age, pregnant women, children between 6 months to 2 years, and those with congenital or chronic diseases like diabetes, asthma, heart disease, cancer, etc.

According to him, the vaccination will be given beginning on May 1st and the process will have been completed by July 31st in order for the receivers to gain immunity against influenza viruses.

Apart from getting shots, there are still a number of ways people can protect themselves against the virus, such as doing exercises, washing hands with soap regularly, and wearing masks when being around sick people. He also urged anyone who comes down with a cold and does not get better in a couple of days to see a doctor immediately.

Considering that most influenza vaccines are utterly useless good hygiene is a better choise and wear a mask if you have a cold so you dont give your germs to anyone else. Both the swineflue and birdflue vaccines have been proven to more or less without any effect in protecting from the flu what so ever...its more likely that the minister of health is getting richer out of this than actually preventing anyone from catching the flu!

I certainly support the distribution of a flu vaccine, but having a biotechnology manufacturing process increased on such a huge scale to supply the intended market scares me. Increasing the scale of a manufacturing process introduces immense process validation issues. Made by a local Thai company, or worse, made in China ? Not for me thank you.

We see hundreds of awful reports of young children going through hell, check for yourself the results of Gardasil vaccinations. Likewise with flu vaccines for children had severe long term effects. How can anyone in their right mind inject mercury into a new born infant?
