Jai Dee Posted June 14, 2006 Share Posted June 14, 2006 Heavy rainfalls disrupt construction of Kwai Noi Dam in Phitsanulok Construction of Kwai Noi (แควน้อย) Dam in Phitsanulok has been disrupted by heavy rainfalls and is now behind schedule. Royal Irrigation Department chief Samart Chokekhanapithak (สามารถ โชคคณาพิทักษ์) said the dam, being built by UBC Power Co at a cost of three billion baht, has been 30% completed. The project must finish before Thailand celebrates His Majesty the King’s 80th birthday anniversary in December, 2007, Mr. Samart said. Mr. Samart said Kwai Noi Dam has a storing capacity of 769 million cubic metres of water. When completed, it will irrigate about 200,000 rai of farmland in the lower Kwai Noi River basin.
