Jai Dee
Criminal cases this month are much lower when being compared to the previous years The Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, Pol. Lt. Col. Achirawit Suphanphaesat, has indicated that serious criminal cases in Thailand have significantly decreased during the month of celebrating the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne. He said this is due to the people’s intention to do good deeds as a present to His Majesty. According to the statistics, serious criminal cases between June 1st and 14th of 2004, 2005 and 2006 show a clear contrast. From June 1st to 14th 2004, 1,143 serious criminal cases were reported, and in the same period of last year, there were 1,321 cases. As for this year, only 37 cases were recorded in the first half of this month. In addition, foreign royalty has also praised Thai people for their warm and cordial hospitality. Pol. Lt. Col. Achirawit has also revealed that the Royal Thai Police Commander is making a book with the details of police works and operations during this auspicious occasion. This is simply not believable. A drop from 1300 to 37? Has someone been sweeping the statistics under the carpet? Pol. Lt. Col. Achirawit has also revealed that the Royal Thai Police Commander is making a book.................. I thought gambling was illegal, especially for policemen. Did they mean he is "writing a book"....... Quite a different matter.
penzman
It was also said by some official not long ago (during Thaksin's anti-poverty campaign) that only 1 million people live under the poverty line.
