Ulysses G.
Channel News Asia has some great coverage in English now Agreed. The best coverage of current Thai politics on TV. I think that it is channel 34 on WE TV. Edited May 22, 2014 by Ulysses G.

Thai at Heart
Goody goody gumdrops So we will have this system in place till another election is called, another shit remote control government will be elected who will proceed to happy a***hole around with mad neo-communist and badly thought through populist policies and then a year or two later we have some more protests and hey presto...lets go round again How novel I guess the shinawatras are running to svb right now
Popular Post DiamondKing
I wish a quick and smooth return to a real Democracy And I hope the military see the best way to heal Thailand is to Arrest Thaskin and put him in a cell so remote that they have to pump sunlight into him. REAL DEMOCRACY is respecting THE PEOPLE VOTE and that has not happened in the last 3 elections which the same party has won We will again let the people vote who will vote in the same party but again just like the past 3 times the Political elite wont like the results.and therefore will do everything AGAIN to nullify the MAJORITY VOTE.

Popular Post max72
They just don't learn do they. And the hateful cycle starts again. They dont; care. Thailand is not China, is not even Myanmar, it's 1000 times worse. It's one of the worst and most abominable dictatorship in the world, where 65 millions Thais live in a de facto slavery where few families and one general have ruled for decades. They would rather massacre the whole population than cede 1% of their power. They want Thais to be desperate, starved, so they can rule forever.
stickylies
for the believers on this site (red or yellow): thailand has always been run by the military (behind the curtain). just read a little about its history in stead of barstooling.

First, You should be loyal to your King, has has done much for thhis country !! I have walked around some of the Protest Sites and saw no "Fat Cats" in BWM or Mecedes. I saw a lot of common people who rode the BTS after work to joint in. I truly believe the rank and file common people of Thailand are tired of corruption, graft and want a chance to enjoy their lives. Enought already straighten out this mess. BigRick
You can't really be an x-pat living in Thailand unless you go through at least one coup. It took 4 years years but look at that me and the wifes first coup in Thailand.
Mister Fixit
Seems the Military called a fake meeting of heads of both Reds & Yellows then arrested them all? 11 folks from what I can understand Suthep & Jutaporn included Don't speculate and make things up you don't know to be true. Read the new forum rules that say 'zero tolerance' etc etc We will find out soon enough. I suspect they've only been taken away to have their heads knocked together and told to grow up. hagler
I guess you really can't call yourself a Thai expat until you go through a coup. Took 4 years but now I am an expat! you haven't been through it yet. you'll know when you have. I left last Friday (through luck not foresight) so I will be missing my third one thank goodness) best wishes to you and all that are there in the coming days weeks and months

jimbeam1
Will they let Suthep out for his victory party or will they keep him in custody in the army camp? You want to say anything about Chalerm/cabinet. Eat your words Thaksin from another thread---BIG GOB. this could well have been the final straw from him---Army has had enough of mighty mouth. It could have just as easily have been Suthep saying that he was going to open 3 more stages this weekend. Whatever the reason, I hope it will not be too long before democracy returns to this poor country. This country still has to find and understand democracy. jb1

WhizBang
No surprise. Guess Thaksin's big mouth today was the straw that broke the camel's back. Now let's see if the UDD/Reds have to balls to start a civil war. I am guessing NO. There may be a small handfull of Ko Tee wanna bes, but I hope that will be the extent of it. So let's see what happens. Makes a certain amount of sense to eliminate the current lot of politicians from the reform process. I hope the army puts together a panel to start the reforms quickly, then referendum, followed by an election. This time next year? What do you think? kjhbigv
Back to the start again....almost like "snakes and ladders", they start to do well climbing the ladders, only to hit a snake and slide all the way back to the start.....sad and quite pathetic really.
