This includes all nationalities going to the casino and all Cambodians that work in the Chong Chom Market. NO vehicles , cars, trucks or motor bikes from Thailand or Cambodia can cross. If you drive be prepared to park back at the market and take a bike taxi. The army will let you do a drop off but the car and driver can not stay. Normally the Chong Chom border is one of the few that has always allowed vehicles from each other's country and third countries to cross without problems, unlike the uncertainty that one faces at Aranyaprathet/Poipet or Ban Laem/Daung (where vehicles can only cross 1km inside each other's territory). Perhaps Koh Kong is also like this now. Was about to take my motorcycle across at that crossing after having earlier decided not to travel via Chong Chom (mainly because it's too far from Bangkok and Koh Kong normally allows vehicles to cross anyway) but due to the start of the rainy season, the fact that I need to carry a lot of luggage including a machine for my business back from Vietnam etc. means I've decided to take a taxi while inside Cambodia as I won't be able to carry a machine and my luggage on the back of a small motorcycle in a tropical downpour! I really do hope they won't become permanent as AEC 2015 is coming up and I really don't see any threat to national security coming from allowing either a local or a foreigner to drive their car or motorcycle into a neighboring country, which is something Europeans and North Americans have been able to take for granted for decades! I'm well aware of the border run crackdown and have commented on a few threads related to that. However, what I'm wondering here relates purely to taking a vehicle (motorcycle or car) across the border between Thailand and Cambodia. Therefore, I was wondering if the new rules related to not allowing vehicles to cross the Chng Chom border, will they become permanent or not? However, Koh Kong is OK - a lot of local vehicles (both Thai and Cambodian, but mainly Thai) didn't have to do ANY paperwork at all, not even get a border pass for the driver, nothing. For everyone else it's still the same - get your export documents from the Thai side done, get your passport stamped on both sides on the border, then bring across your vehicle. I'm in contact on a daily bases with Kap Choeng Immigration Officers who operate the Chong Chom Crossing. At this moment hardly any casino tour buses or casino vans are operating. Open for valid border hop and crossing into Cambodia. Reminder this crossing is now following the NEW VISA GUIDELINES. Surin Immigration in Kap Choeng is open 0830 to 1700. They do try and close for lunch from 1200 to 1300 but I have seen them work straight through when they were stuffed and take a very late lunch and not close at all.
