Jai Dee
Bangkok is safe from run-offs from the North Bangkok will be safe from run-offs from the North which have become polluted. Caretaker Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Khunying Sudarat Keyurapan (สุดารัตน์ เกยุราพันธุ์) said waterways in risk areas have been dredged and 30 pumps have been installed at three water gates to divert water into the Bang Pakong (บางปะกง) river. Khunying Sudarat confirmed Bangkok and surrounding provinces would not be flooded. She also said Sirikit dam in Uttaradit would release 150 million cubic metres of water to dilute waste water from about 200,000 rai of rice fields in some northern provinces which had been flooded last month. She said tests of the quality of that water found it was not hazardous to marine animals and human beings.
