salavan
Is this wonderland the same Kanchanaburi I live in, or have I slipped into an alternate universe? Post #13 explains the OP's actual intent. Have to admit I took it hook, line and stinker. i forgot to mention those sweet cuddly soi dogs that always give you a warm welcome, dont be put off by them foaming at the mouth they are just pleased to see you , you can have peace of mind knowing they are cared for by loving and responsible thai owner's

mrtoad
Hi Salavan, About 10km north of Kanchanaburi is the town called Nong Bua, it also has a bridge and this is a great place to get a feed and relax with a cold one. There is a resort in Nong Bua worth visiting, called 'Xanadu 2008' run by an English guy and his Thai wife. A beautiful property backing onto the river kwai, a great place to put your kayak in and float back into town. Agreed, a lovely spot - Dennis and Nee are lovely people, and the food is excellent. Don't think the OP particularly likes the area though
Popular Post Boxclever
After living 2 years in BKK and now 3 years in gaan I absolutely agree But you forgot some extra things... 1. The air in gaan is clean and dry so you feel more comfortable here 2. Food and drink is 1/2 price of BKK 3. apartment rent, clothes, dentists and hospitals are 1/3 off Bkk 4. If you get bored you can go to BKK by bus in 2 hours and it will only cost you about 110 Bath. and the Burma border is only 1.5 hour drive away in case you need a visa run. (I do not know if you still can do visa run in Burma) P.s If you never been to the River Kwai festival in November please go and visit it at night. It has a fantastic show at night.... My wife and I bought a river front property (12 rai) at Wang Yen about 5 years ago. We built a house last year and now live there permanently. I agree Muggi, absolute pleasure to live here. Neighbours are great, my Son loves his school, we swim in the Kwai Noi nearly every day! Absolutely love the place.
