Don't you just luv em; JT took off in her Private Plane to an undisclosed destination? Was JT flying the plane?

She does a lot more than others do, and she works on a mirco level by adopting some childern. Not much said about trafficing, but then again needs to get out of the country?

If people have time, go to one of your local services in Thailand and spend some time there as a volunteer. You may make someones life better for the day, and may change your life. Just a thought. All of us need to do more selfless acts, me included.

Can someone explain to me the difference between child trafficking and adopting some foreign children and dragging them to the USA?

Adopting a child as your own and giving them a warm loving home with all the things they need to develop is different to trafficking where the child may live in a shitehole, beg for food and no education whilst being rented out to rockspiders, forced to work 20 hours per day for nothing. The only reward they would get is a daily beating and the privilege to lick the soi dogs bowl.

The vast majority of human trafficking into Thailand is not forced. The millions of Shan people in Northern Thailand have a far better life than they would otherwise have in their homeland. Many pay to be trafficked into Thailand. Adopting children and having them move off to the US is still human trafficking in the literal sense of the word and at least the Shan people in Northern Thailand can stick to their own culture/language/identity in areas like Chiang Mai. They are free to return at any time they wish, but seldom choose to.

Can't believe someone could ask such a question. It's like asking the difference between consensual s*x and forced r*pe.

What is the difference between consensual sex and forced rape? 50 shades of grey?

Another Hollywood celeb failing to pratctice what she preaches. I cannot understand how someone can take a day and visit the sick and the very poor then for the next 360 days jettison between mansions and yachts. I'm sorry but in an age of public relations campaigns and personal managers one must wonder if it is more about the positive PR or maybe it makes one feel less guilty for living like a princess. I'm sorry but I really don't think she is a Mother Theresa like many wish she would be.

I think her visit is a good idea but a bit far from home since 90,000 children from South America will be arriving illegally this month in America to become refugees. I can't help but wonder if she shouldn't be gathering some money to take care of the refugees at home instead of in Thailand.

Wouldn't say she's anywhere near Mother Theresa, and don't think many here make the comparison.

She is a celebrity, and what she does compared to other celebrities is quite above the norm. Her main

contribution, other than donations, would be getting greater exposure for the plight of these people.

Helping others is not an all or nothing thing. Some may dedicate their whole life to it, some don't give

it a second thought, some do....something. It also doesn't mean one need to let go of all their earthly

possessions. This is not about re-distribution of wealth.

Edit: Seems like she's a lot more active in these things than I thought: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelina_Jolie#Humanitarian_work

Yes, it's for publicity, yes they probably have big houses and eat at fine restaurants, but they are still doing something. And she's not trying to be Mother Theresa, she genuinely cares; why else would she do it? She gets enough money and fame from her acting career, her lips and her husband. People like her and Princess Diana wanted the publicity so this kind of thing gets in the papers and gets people talking about it, not because they want fame, they have enough of it already.

Surely doing something is better than nothing? Giving help and joy even if it is for publicity and gets people being aware of it and talking about it is better than some Hollywood actor surrounded by groupies in a hotel room, snorting cack? Some Khao San traveller coming in and paying a visit to a refugee camp will bring thanks and joy, sure. A hollywood actress or sports star will give thanks, joy, hope and awareness.

Some footballers get paid a ridiculous amount of money, and some are egotistical obsessed nut jobs. However, you get the odd good guy, like the Dutch player Dirk Kuyt who spends as much free time as he can helping handicapped kids and giving away a big percentage of his weekly wage to the cause.

I can't believe people want to give her stick for doing something good; stinks of bitterness and grumpiness.

Can't help thinking it's the Jennifer Anniston fans that have always had a bee in their bonnet when it comes to Angelina Jolie. She's bringing awareness and publicity to many things that are horrible in the world, and she need to be applauded for that and I take my hat off to her. What actually has Jennifer Anniston done, apart from make some hairdressers rich?

No bitterness here whatsoever just a healthy dose of reality. Of course doing something is better than nothing but you say there is little benefit to positive PR from doing such things? Well tell that to McDonalds who sponsor McDonald's House or Coca Cola or any corporation that is doing or providing funds for charitable work. There is great benefit not only to those receiving assistance but to those doing the good. Astute celebrities hire professional public relations managers to manage their careers and their public persona much like a corporation does. They may not be directly selling a service but they are selling themselves through endorsement and of course box office not to mention lucrative speaking engagements (Hiilary made 5 million since she left govt a short time ago and others estimate Bill has made over 100 million). And don't forget many of Bill's bookings are directly related to his charitable endeavors.

Let me give you a good example. There are a number of very wealthy Casino owners being touted as "philanthropists" because after taking a billion from the middle class and the poor they give .001 percent back and earn the title "philanthropist". And of course the spin doctors pump this out to great benefit.

I thinik it is great Angelina is doing some postive things. However, some elevate her to almost saint like status. I just wish the media would spend more time lauding the efforts of those who have performed a lifetime of service rather than constantly focusing on celebrities.

Some should tell Angelina that when you visit a country your supposed to take a T shirt home!

Only joking.

This woman has used in fame to bring forward the plight of the displaced and the underprivileged .

I have nothing but admiration for her!

And to say she looks scary is a low blow considering losing both breasts to cancer and even then didn't hide it but inspired millions of women to have regular check ups!

Just to be clear she did not have cancer she had a double masectomy because she has a gene that makes her chances of developing breast cancer higher, she did it as a preventative measure.

Yes I can just see them at the border crossings standing in the "do you want to be human traffic" area.

Huge queues I'll bet. Maybe even a lucky draw to see who gets selected?

Again, comparing her to people who dedicated their whole life for helping others - yes, overkill.

Saying she's a saint? Haven't seen that one yet, and no, she ain't.

Of course she gets some extra PR from this, no doubt.

But then, the more PR she gets the more people follow stories on what she's doing....maybe not a bad side effect.

I don't think anyone's classing her as a saint, just recognising she is doing some good. People always look for the bad whenever someone rich or famous does a good thing. Yes there are stinking rich things all over the world who use charity as a way to hide sinister or guilt (Jimmy Savile being one).

But I really don't see how anyone can have a go at Angelina here.

In your eyes, what could she do instead, for you to accept she does good?

There's nothing healthy, or logical, about your reality.

Only worthy people / organizations, who receive nothing in return, should be allowed to give?

Have you ever taken a charitable tax deduction? Participated in a gift exchange during the holidays? Expected a 'thank you' for an act of kindness?

Even Sister Theresa expected to go to heaven for her charitable work.

Governments and organizations have always used celebrities, for their cause. Looking up fund-raising, for war bonds, in the 40's.

There's nothing hypocritical about it. Charity is big business. You're naive if you think saints can raise the big bucks.

I am sure there must be many members on TV who give generously to many good causes and work tirelessly volunteering for their favourite charities, but they never get the same acknowledgement or publicity as some Hollywood actor who just pops in for a minute or two.

You are most certainly right. But they never get the word out to the world as much as the celebrities who just pop in for a quick visit and thenion to what ever.

Both are needed. With out the celebrities the others would have very kittle backing.

Instead of criticizing why don't you do some thing your self.

I know you don't from your lack of knowledge on how important it is to get the word out to the world.

It is natural for many humans to be jealous. they look for ways to strike back and in their efforts fail to realize the good in others.

They them selves do nothing but sit at a keyboard and fantasize the wrongs of others and nothing of the good points in others.

In their twisted minds they think they are adding to the world with their input. Ask them how much they have helped the needy in the world with their negativity. Chances are they don't care. Selfishness is a strong driving force in many.sad.png
